Is America actually taking credit for the over-use of 'literally'?

I don't know where the misuse originated from but seems in many articles we are the ones getting blamed for spreading the misuse.

Not meaning to bump this, but I didn't want to start a new thread for it.
Who coined the term Freeform and pushed it? I get the impression Bunter pushed the term Trancecore and it became reasonably known among fans as that, but who was there driving the transition to Freeform?
Help would be golden, thanks :)

I dont know about bunter and freeform, but sharkey, kevin energy or Shanty are highly likely the ones who coined it.
