A bit out of the blue. Is this a follow up to HU2010?

Can't help but feel a bit deflated by that line-up. Next to HU6, it kind of feels like the Johnstones Paint Trophy next to the the FA Cup - analogously speaking.

I'm looking forward to it. Should be some good quality cheese across those three discs. Fun kinda Hardcore, if you know what I mean. :-)

I think the idea is fantastic. As for this particular release - we shall see. :)

What is the idea?

I swear there's no info on it. A physical CD?

definitely looking forward to Chris Fear & Sc@r, and Ramos & Unknown should be interesting, but I am personally not fond of Klubfiller unless he's collaborating with someone of far more talent. His mixes do not impress me. But this is HU so I will give it a chance.

lol, yeah it's a physical CD, and yes it's pretty much been kept quite quiet. There was a bit of info on it within the Hardcore Underground 6 booklet.

And what I mean by what I said earlier, is, basically, that HU are going to give it a fcuking good go at becoming a major label (not that they already aren't, but in terms of converting some of the masses) - and it's important for them to get people onboard that appeal to a/the more mainstream sound. Get some decent sales from this, get some monies in - do more good stuff. And so on and so on.

That's what I see this project as, seeing as how all of these guys are very Futureworld-ish and get constant bookings alongside the FW artists.

The sad thing is that HU actually has to do this at all to get further recognition and respect they deserve in the scene. I mean they already have been producing quality tunes, quality albums for years, have toured in countries that most UK hardcore artists themselves have never played in, yet they seem to get the short end of the stick from promoters.

First of all, I think even the chin-strokers will be pleasantly surprised.

We've been doing CDs for a while, but fundamentally limited by the huge gap between investment and return. It literally took 5 months from pressing to get *anything* back. Now we're on direct sale, we can do much more. We've got the infrastructure, and we're relentlessly finicky about putting out quality stuff. Not all of it will be to everyone's tastes, or even necessarily my own.

As it stands there is one major album being released in genre a year. Uno. This is not enough. For those in the cheap seats, people used to write *for* albums. New Bonkers coming up? Gotta get on there!!!!!!! Without showcase comps etc, the endgame is a saturated digital market, inherently throwaway. This is bad bad news, and encourages bad bad music.

"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime"

Albums make people active. They write for it, they chase cool collabs. Even if compilation fatigue (IE: it's my album, I must showcase everything I've written ever!!!) sets in, then artist albums inspire people to treat the project as a timepiece.

We'll be doing 2-3 albums a month henceforth. We will bundle where appropriate, to save on shipping and incentivise/reward people for taking a risk on something they aren't entirely sure about. That's where it really pays off, exposing new things to new people. That and the best bit of all; we can take risks. Through the old model we *had* to sell 4 figures or we'd damage our sales history and threaten future projects.

Now we can loss-lead, and do stuff just because we *want* to. Even if it's just because it's the right thing to do. It's very liberating, and exciting.

Obviously I have a vested interest, but I will say hand-on-heart that I was very impressed by what was delivered for this album. No, I don't think the purists are going to jump on board the mainstream-express anymore than I expected the powerstomp brigade to stroke themselves to a breakbeat hardcore disc. The more rounded listeners will find a *lot* to like here.

Hmm. Disappointed by the lineup. Klubfiller doesn't do much for me and I suspect it will sound like CXH.

Ramos hasn't done anything good last couple of years, and Chris Unknown hasn't done much good solo material. Also CXH-esque disc I guess.

Sc@r & Chris Fear might be a good disc, though.

I'll try to keep an open mind when listening though.

What popular tracks has Chris Fear done? I know he did one with Dougal with a horribly out of tune sample, but thats all I can remember.

edit: Oh he did First Serve. Less said?

He did this really amazing one which I heard at HTID ITS 2012, and happen to have recorded a bit of it.

for some ungodly reason, he has yet to release it. It's been about 1.5 years now, which is a seriously unreasonable amount of time to keep the track in the dark. Hopefully it's on this album in some form.
