These aren't just knockoffs of clubland albums and hardcore music, they are touhou arranges. They are pretty damn clever.

Wow! I really like these and the other releases from that label. Is it just me, or is there no way to actually buy the CDs on their website?

Most J-core labels are like that. Check j-core.biz

Thanks for the tip. I didn't see it there, so I guess I'll keep looking. Hopefully someone who has the albums will update discogs at some point.

Yeah I see them as re-makes, its just fun to call them knock offs.
they kind of hurt your brain the first time you listen to them, like you are expecting the notes from the originals and then it comes in all different and messes with you

The music itself is based off of music from a Japanese PC game.

Ive been aware of these for a while. Amane's done a good job in my opinion! Very clever productions, and a spoof of anything is a winner in my books.

Ah yeah, TOUHOU meets HARDCORE :D Amane doesn't have them stocked at GUHROOVY/j-core.biz which I'd imagine will never happen since I hear he's one of those who doesn't want westerners getting their hands on his music because they'll fileshare it (a reason why quite a few make their music event-exclusive or only purchasable in Japan) but maybe it's worth asking either of them if it can get stocked there.
At the moment you can get both from Akibaoo, one of the most used Doujin stores:
TOUHOU meets HARDCORE 1
TOUHOU meets HARDCORE 2
but you'll need a friend to get them for you, or a buying/forwarding service. Ask me if you want to know more about that.

Since they follow the same chord structure as the original versions they should be classed as cover songs.

So many songs share chord sequence yet aren't classed as covers. Not really sure where you plucked that one from.

some of them are the original's cut and spliced with extra bits plucked over the top of them.

I don't think that's correct - They're reproduced, not sampled.

Listening back through them now and I still stand by what I said I think.
It sounds like a bars from each song have been yanked, then looped, then extra melodies layered on top.
..
...
what the hell am I saying, I don't even know 98% of the songs they're ripping off, haha.
what I'm picking up on is just the complete contrast in production quality's of the lead melodies vs backing kick/bass etc just sounds like they've been thrown on top.
like someone else made the cake, but another person has put the icing on.
anyway, I'm doing the one thing I hate, and that's picking at production - if a song is enjoyable, that's all that matters to me.
though this stuff isn't for me :P
I just thought I would try and take part in the forum for a while ;)

the exact definition of a cover song :)
Covers are perfectly legal if you give credit to the original artists as the writers and give the publishing rights to them. Generally speaking (and take this with a grain of salt) covers are okay 5 years after the original version. If you do a cover song earlier than 5 years you really need to get permission from the original artist as you are basically ripping them off at that point.
