1300 pounds seems like a lot of money!! don't expect to get any of it back either... putting on an event is a major drama. expect djs and mcs to not turn up, hire equipment to not turn up. not trying to put a damper on your plans, i wish you the best of luck dude! just don't set your heights or hopes too high...

I don't think you need to discourage him that much. DJ's and MC's do usually turn up. It's not that often that they cancel. Bout the equipment... I suppose things are different in Australia, but here usually you get what you pay for. It's allready too bloody expensive!
You just have to plan things well and enough ahead of time. Now bout making the money back, I agree. Breaking even is really good. Profits are great. But in a competitive place like the UK, don't expect to be making much.

^^^ I *think* what pacman was getting at was make sure you're prepared for the worst, for eg: a DJ/MC could be involved in a car accident on the way to the party, or they could fall ill, in which case you'd need a replacement. Also, the DJ/MC you book may receive a better offer to DJ/MC elsewhere and decide to cancel your party. Expect the unexpected.
Anyways, fingers crossed for a successful, should you choose to put one on.
