Assuming we're allowed to specify an order and live tracks are permitted I'd go with high-tempo, uplifting and accessible (mainstream remixes) "anthems":

In a similar note, I've got a friend who is really into nightcore. It seems like an easy jump to hardcore. What tracks should i show him to try to get him interested?

To add a a side note: showing someone outside of the scene mainstream remixes could be the very WORST thing you could do. In my experience, people outside of the scene see hardcore of being massively guilty of being unoriginal and ripping everything. Showing them a mainstream remix just confirms that and causes them to make their own false judgement of the genre in general when all you can come up with is a chart remix.
I remember before I got into happy hardcore people talking about "we are raving" (of course taking the piss) which is something I have never heard to this day which illustrates my point of preconceptions.
On another site note: with three tracks I'd try to choose three very different ones that bridge the styles a little because some like powerstomp and not the twr stuff like myself, if someone doesn't like the freeform sound, showing them three Douglas songs aren't going to change their mind, they'd probably just think you'd pressed repeat.

When I used to work at Cex (high street entertainment/electrical retailer for those that don't know) we used Spotify for our music, so could pretty much choose our own music. The only hardcore tracks I could play without some miserable cunt skipping them within the first few seconds were the likes of Missing You, Late Night, Concrete Angel, Knight In Shining Armour, that sort of sound.
Occasionally some mid 90s breakbeat/piano stuff was alright if it fit in with what was being played. So it depends on who I'm trying to convince. More recent breakbeat hardcore was never an issue.
So based on the above, my three, all time, gun-to-the-head hardcore tracks to convince someone:

I usually go with the approach of force feeding it down peoples throats. It works for some songs but most people tend to like just the slow parts of the majority of most happy hardcore tracks, and when the faster parts kick in they start getting turned off. If we're taking Hardcore without the happy, I can't get anyone I know into that.

Depends what sort of music they are into now, find something that sits between two genres, if you throw them into the deep end with freeform and the listen to house at the moment it might not work.

tough decision, but my three songs would be:
1. United In Dance Feat. Lisa Marie - Still The One >>> UK Hardcore
2. Alek Szahala - Alanarama (Arkitech Remix) >>> Freeform
3. Scott Brown - Boomstick >>> hardcore/gabber
IMO, if someone doesn't like any of these songs, she/he probably will never like hardcore.

"classics" are called classics for a reason: they are timeless.
No matter how much time goes by, people genuinely interested in the music will recognize their value.
but I see your point, there are songs more contemporary that could lure someone into the genre more easily.
