I suppose some songs may be easier to mix than others but to be honest, the only way to learn is by practising, and practising, and...
it'll all come eventually, if not, get a loud MC to shout over all your dodgy mixes!!
As for the decks...CD? No, sorry, you got me there!!!

ummm hmm, i don't know after awhile they all become easy =P
just find a bunch of records w/ nothing but kickdrum intros on them...that should help you out in mixing
as far as decks, get some vinyl ones first...most people i know of go w/ vinyl and then have like 1 cd deck for self made tracks

like brian said, they all become easy after a while
the biggest part of being a DJ is creating ur own feel and groove when you're spinning, stealing mixes and doing easy ones doesn't do that and isn't what most would want to present, and considering you are working on a demo I doubt you would want to soundlike everyone else either

I would just keep praticing (Yeah it sounds like a broken record here, but it's the truth).
When I started last year I found it hard to beat match and what not, but now I'm starting to get the hang of it...and it's because I kept at it

All these DJ's goin on about style and not one of you try to help him???
They are right in ways, its all about practice.
What Genre do you spin??? (Then I might be able to help)
Try buying two of the same record. That way you have two exact copies of the same tune. Use these to practice beat matching and key mixing etc:
Its also down to a point of mixing. Listen to your tunes and try figure out all the good points for a mix. Count the intro bars and outro bars and use other tunes with the same IE if a tune has 32 bar outro mix it to tune with a 32 bar intro. Think what tune would sound great after this one? I am assuming you can beatmatch but if you cant yet dont worry just keep practising when you get it youll find it hard not to be able to beatmatch.
Try mixing in tunes through a breakdown to another breakdown if your very new. This gives you a feel for the structure.
If you spin happy hardcore buy "Your Shining" and "Future Set" on Raver Baby, these tunes mix to one another both ways very easily so you can practice with those.
Most importantly have fun and stick with it. If you cant do it have a break for a while.
Also stick with Vinyl mate. Its more of an art and people with have more respect for you. My 13 year old cousin can mix with CD's there not really that hard. I do have respect for CD dj's, just not as much :P It all depends on your style of music.
Peace
-I love my decks, just looking at them at night before I go to bed and getting up in the morning with my hair in a mess just stood there in my boxers mixing thinking im the bomb-

You'll pick mixing up quick and will be scratching soon. Just don't get frustrated, if you mess up take a deep breath and try again. Punching the mixer won't help either (We've all done it at some point lol.)
How I got my first proper mix was with 'Bo & Luke - Only You' and 'Hixxy - Feel it in the air'. After deciding to play those tune together I then imagined what they would sound like (the 'Feel it in the air' vocal at the start over the top of the 'Only You' tune). When it came to the crunch and I did mess up I reverted to my imagination and nudged the vinyls till they clicked.

Vinyl, like Hardcore, will never die! IMO mixing on turntables feels better than on CD decks.

practice till you're head hurts, and then go a lil further...
if you've got some friends that can help you out, have them listen to a recording of you or listen to you and have them give you they're opinions on you're mixing
recording yourself is a great place to start as well, i mean you don't know what you sound like until you hear it back to you...
listen to other djs mix tracks when you're starting off, go watch some of the big wigs (after all you live in england you get to see most of our imported headliners =P)

sorry, but i would'nt find that to be helpful at all.. the beats are already the same speed and key, so there wouldnt be anything for you learn and practise with.. i'd say its good to buy like 10 tunes or so, and stick with those for a while.. mix them in different order to learn about how much you need to adjust the speeds and such..
one thing i've noticed a lot of new dj's do is they take their headphones off as soon as they start to bring the next track in.. DONT!! :P
