depends what sync it is, tempo sync can come in handy for 3 or 4 deck mixing, beatgrid sync is for shit dj`s who can`t press play at the right time or use nudge and should be unmapped in clubs

I use the "beatgrid sync" on virtualdj, but it's complete crap after 2-3 songs, so in the end I still need to adjust the tracks so it doesnt clang.

I don't think anybody should be complaining about the sync button in 2015-16
It's hard to find a mixer these days without it.
Just use it! One less thing you gotta worry about when mixing imo. :)
It's a useful tool whether people like it or not.

One thing I don't like about the sync button is it allows you to mix out of a track way too quickly. I see this quite often in my DJ club. They let a track play for less than one minute and then switch to something else.

The way I see it is its like playing a computer game with cheats on.
Sure its fun! But it takes something from the depth of the game. You'll never quite reach the level of satisfaction you get from completing the game on the hardest setting.
Turn it off. Earn that pride. Trust me.

If you can beatmatch fine I guess it shouldn't be a problem if you use sync. I mean people do get lazy at times haha! And sync works a charm for trick mixing too :)
Besides, there's more to mixing than just beatmatching including the track selection, key etc etc ;)

I think use sync only when you want to bring the session to another level ( Live Set, Live create and composition ) but to classsic mix and simple transitions I still think that nothing like them manually.
Cheers.

...eh. I don't typically use it, but it can come in handy when you wanna do either a really long transition or a live mash-up while one deck is at 89.97BPM and the second is at 90.01BPM (when you want to do a 180BPM mix)

If I'm having a mix at home, I'm using turntables and CDJs, none of which have sync facility. I'd be bored shitless using sync for a mix I'm doing at home.
If I'm out DJing using my controller, fuck it, I don't need to prove to anyone that I can mix all by my little old self, I've been mixing without it for years. Sync button ahoy, gives me more time to do whatever else I fancy.

Oof, now there's an issue you'll prolly find anywhere. Long mixing can be done, sync button or not :s
