I read the question again and again, and I see the word FORUM......which made me think he wanted to know who started hhc.com.....simple misunderstanding.

There wasnt one particular "starter" of hhc. It wasnt as if most dj's were spinning drum n bass and then all of a sudden one particular dj produced
a style which was completely different from any other. hhc developed from different styles over a long period of time, It didnt just develope overnight.

Its a bit like how hardcore has evolved to the new trancey sound, one producer didnt change the scene from the oldstyle, it developed slowly over a period of a few years.

Born 2 b Hardcore !!

my college dissertation should be on the evolution from early 90s d&b and other music styles into the pounding trancey hardcore we know today... it's sorta microevolution in a sense and it's a small enough community that you can track all the little changes. :)

True, happy hardcore developed over time with other influences. I have read once that "Human Resource - Dominator" could be considered the actual first hardcore record, cause it had the "hoover" sound in it.
But I have a '93 cd with a track called "new style", the whole cd is breakbeat/jungle style, but the newstyle track had the stomping beat in it, but just for some seconds.
So I dont know, I think we are searching through elements influences, and if we keep that up we will end up really back in history. So I dont think it would be only one person but several, and together they are the pioneers.
It is really hard to put it on one person, especially since it evolved in a short timespan at a fast rate together with other genres of electronic music.

I think HHC came off of drum n bass. But hmm the true starter, like the others said. I actually found out about hhc on a whim. I just bought Happy 2b Hardcore Chapter 1 because i was just getting into techno and i thought it might be good, well i am happy as a pig in sh*t that i did, because hhc is the sh*t that im rolling in.

listen to the oldschool song sesame street on ecstacy and it will answer you questions. youre beating a tired question to death. no one knows where hhc came from, i have a book that dates hhc and dnb to the same time frame. people wanted faster more frantic music to dance to instead of acid house or techno. hence hardcore came about. still that pace was not enough for the punters. then what we would call old skool hhc came about. its way slower in my opinion than the hhc of today, but that may help you. but yeah, slipmatt was a pioneer in the beginning of hhc as far as i know. so give him the crown and a wreath of flowers if you want, but anyone from that era of hhc were all pioneers and deserve respect. no one man or woman created happy hardcore, everyone in the scene made it what it was. i'll get off of my soap box now peace.

I think it was said best by MC lively

"Twenty years ago, we called it disco, twenty years later, now we call
it happy hardcore techno."

Its a line he says once or twice on a tape of the Vibes and Lively Show @ a
hullabaloo party.

What he's sayin is that it all started in the mid-seventies and it has just continued to evolve to the point it has gotten to.

Almost all genres of electronic music started there, when they first put two turntables together with a speaker system attached to them.

Ecstatic

Hah, I remember well the early 90s. For me happy hardcore started with rave tracks like 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' which was a big hit back in 1994:

Oh, and there is also Mark'Oh with his hit 'Tears don't lie', also from 1994:
