Has anybody else played this already? It hit the US like 30 hours ago and already it's so damn popular that the game had crazy server issues all day yesterday.
In case some of you don't know, Pokemon Go is a new game app available on your mobile phone that brings Pokemon to your neighborhood and your entire city. It's similar to the game in that you have to actually go outside, walk around and search and catch pokemon. There are even gyms where you can train and even battle your pokemon. You can't battle with other people yet just the gym "leaders", or even wild pokemon you can only catch them right now. But you can catch as many of each kind as you want in some cases it's a good thing to get your pokemon to evolve.
I had problems with it because Android allows for mock locations and since the app is site specific and mock locations is a cheat way to go about doing things in some apps, they make sure you physically HAVE to go outdoors in your city to find the pokemon lol. After I figured out how to do that even with the server issues I managed to capture over a dozen different kind of pokemon and can visit a gym at this point and battle.
The first people to get it I hear were Aussies and Kiwis. Not sure when it'll be released in Canada, the UK, Europe or the rest of the world.
All that you need is either an iphone or Android smartphone. Not sure about the IOS, but for Android you can have a phone running Lollipop and you are still able to use it. That's what I have and with the exception of the AR version not working as well for me, which is seeing pokemon through the view of your camera on your phone and instead just the game screen, everything works just fine.

Yeah I'm playing it, I downloaded the APK and installed it - it's not actually released in the UK but all the stuff is working already :)
I'm level 6, Team Mystic awww yeee

Oh it did crash the first few hours. But yesterday was much worse because it was the first day in full use.
I noticed it especially crashed during the lunch hour and after work commute time.

I was playing it yesterday at 11 pm lol, i went out in my bike and caught like 4 pokemon in an hour or so. i even ran into a few people playing it :) theres a battle gym like 3 mins from my house on a bike
