Couple of reasons are
- topics going off topic badly,
- duplicate topics

All forums lock topics, but here topics gets locked or deleted on these reasons:
1. Spam
2. Double post
3. The subject of the topic contains a general statement and something toally unrelated and could not be discussed.
4. Breaking the rules
5. Posting MP3 requests.
6. Digging up really really old topics and not adding new discussion to it.
