The first event I have seen nearby - (bearing in mind I have only just started this scene a short while ago) -Species Manchester: right on my doorstep and I don't have a clue what type of music they'r playing and help in understanding the following would be appreciated:
'Disgustingly' hard techno
Hard Trance
Hard Style
Speedcore.
If anyone can give examples twood be helpful.

Hard Trance - distorted, 140-odd BPM kickdrum under really thick, meaty trance melodies. See Scott Project and the like.
Hardstyle - like hard trance, but with less melodies, more distortion and even some gabber elements thrown in. Hell, some of it wouldn't even count as trance anymore IMO. See Uberdruck, Blutonium Boy, etc. Actually, go to this site and download a mix called "Digital Overdose 7". It'll probably be the only one available for download from the Hardstyle section. Nice little hardstyle megamix to get a general feel for it.
Speedcore - 220+BPM, scary vox clips, relatively little else. The few speedcore tracks I listened to were by Speedcore Terrorist and DJ Gabber God. Last time I checked (about 2 years ago), this site had some decent speedcore on it.

Ive been listenin ta dance music religiously for over 10 years now
n i have a pain in my head wit all the different genres,it used ta be
so much easier to no wats goin on back in the good ol dayz
