The first event I have seen nearby - (bearing in mind I have only just started this scene a short while ago) -Species Manchester: right on my doorstep and I don't have a clue what type of music they'r playing and help in understanding the following would be appreciated:
'Disgustingly' hard techno
Hard Trance
Hard Style
Speedcore.
If anyone can give examples twood be helpful.
Cheers...?

Hard Trance - distorted, 140-odd BPM kickdrum under really thick, meaty trance melodies. See Scott Project and the like.

Hardstyle - like hard trance, but with less melodies, more distortion and even some gabber elements thrown in. Hell, some of it wouldn't even count as trance anymore IMO. See Uberdruck, Blutonium Boy, etc. Actually, go to this site and download a mix called "Digital Overdose 7". It'll probably be the only one available for download from the Hardstyle section. Nice little hardstyle megamix to get a general feel for it.

Speedcore - 220+BPM, scary vox clips, relatively little else. The few speedcore tracks I listened to were by Speedcore Terrorist and DJ Gabber God. Last time I checked (about 2 years ago), this site had some decent speedcore on it.

... AKA Ishkur's Guide To Electronic Music v2.0.

I didn't realise Digitally Imported was hosting it. I was wondering where Ish managed to find all that bandwidth.
