rafferty Not sure how many of you listen to Roar the 90's rave podcast. But Hixxy has also confirmed he is bringing back the Bonkers CD album series with Sharkey & possibly Dougal.

He also says that it will be very different to past albums and current to today, so he is expecting some people to disapprove.

Jump to 40:05 on the YouTube video to hear it confirmed.

Or jump to 40:05 on the SoundCloud link below and you can hear it.

Vladel The only thing continuing would be the name only. Bonkers as an idea died with 17 and the scene has never been the same since. Furthermore the artists involved can't produce for shit now.

Hixxy is a spent force that doesn't even really make music anymore.
Dougal is quite frankly the same.
Sharkey would only likely produce modern freeform which is rubbish.
Scott brown isn't producing at the moment and his last tin of stuff want up to standard.

That means you would have to make the disks up from other music in the scene on which case what's the point in calling it bonkers? 160bpm knock off hardstyle is hardly what I'd call bonkers.
htid_4_life Each to their own but I disagree that Dougal and Hixxy are spent. Hixxy's radio shows have had some really decent tunes on and Dougal with Styles or Gammer has made some decent tunes and been involved in other good project. Yeah its not the hardcore from 20 years ago or even 10 years ago, but if I want to hear Now is the time, Shooting star etc I would get the old stuff out. I guess everyone has a point they stop and get off when there is a change in the scene. Now there is less dubstep shit in the music I quite like it again

As long as Breeze isn't involved, this wont happen XD
Luz1978 Hixxy also said that the raver baby stuff would actually get a digital release (some Legal stuff to sort apparently then they can be released) and last year Force and Styles said they would release their back catalogue.

No further news since though only either, so hope there is some kind of update soon.
LeVzi What Ian Hicks says and what actually happens are completely unrelated.
Samination if I dont misremember, some more info should come soon
Vladel All you will get from hixxy is good intentions. I'll believe any of this when I see it.

Yeah your right he did say that on the same podcast. The excuse is that it is taking time to get the tracks cleared from Universal which owns AATW & has the rights to Clubland Xtreme Hardcore. Pretty sure he said he sold them the recording rights when doing Clubland Xtreme. So in other words, a lot of the Raver Baby releases are now owned by a multinational record company and not by Hixxy anymore.

Yeah he has always been very slow to do things. I'm hopeful though.

Hell will freeze over, the guy is lazy and the only time a Hixxy track gets released is when it's handled by someone else.

Will it be very different to past albums? We'll see, the current UK hardcore sound generally will be different but I can see some similarities from some artists as on previous albums. Can see Sharkey's mix being different to his previous Bonkers ones.
Anon. When you look up the word Procrastinate in the dictionary , there is a pictrure of hixxy beside it.
Samination The original idea with Bonkers was about it being "off their rockers". That mentality doesn't exactly exist in the music anymore, so this will just be using the Bonkers name for sales.
Anon. Exactly.

I said it a while back the only thing this will have in common with the old bonkers albums is the name.
Mental_Adam I'd say i'm not aware too much of the sound of modern hardcore since 2008.

however i've heard the odd track or two from mainly the older names in the genre releasing new stuff.

Hopefully it's drifted away from that last commercial era push

I am thinking it will be mostly Happy Hardstyle type stuff which Hixxy plays these days. Nothing like 2008. He is a big fan of the OneSeventy label.

Compulsion Love to hear it.
Icewind If it's not 170-180 BPM, I will be disappointed.

160 BPM tracks are stepping outside of the hardcore genre at that point.
Craigavon raver Anymore news on this? expected at least dj line-up etc by now or even release!
