I currently use Chrome browser for everything, and have been noticing since last night that some of the pages on the site are not opening up properly, and instead Chrome is automatically downloading a file forum.asp. I quickly cancel them when they pop up. I'm on Firefox now and I am having no such problems. Anyone having a similar experience with Chrome?
I'm not really that worried about it, since it brings me back to Firefox which I miss so much. On the plus side, I am having no problems viewing youtube videos on Firefox after downloading Chrome. So I might just come back to Firefox :) |

Well only thing I can see is that the website is running in Quirks mode (more backward compatible with older browsers).
If you're downloading the page, it's usually either the webserver not configured the MIME properly, which tells your browsers that you're downloading a file instead of viewing a page. Or it could be the webbrowser that doesn't understand the MIME properly and thinks it's a file. |

I've been using Chrome on this site (and for everything) for years and never experienced that problem. |

Thanks to latin, I actually found a critical exploit on this website (which in the end also affects my own website). I've emailed silver about it and lets see if he can fix it. |

I used to have that exact problem about two years ago, but haven't experienced it in well over a year. Totally forgot that used to happen. Weird. |

I use chrome daily for years, never had a problem, sounds more like your virus protection or a setting gone wrong on your end because it shouldn't download the html. |

Seems fine now I don't have a problem anymore. It only happened when I clicked on the Music Discussion: hardcore link of the forum topics. |

I'm on Firefox and I've noticed the forum.asp file for a few weeks now, too. I usually just cancel and just click again and it works, though a bit on the slow side.

That must have been a fortune in legal fees. |

Actually I did notice it myself, I use the DEV builds of chrome, but it seemed to have gone away when I upgraded |
