Yes mate it's proper Hardcore Breakz (ie. close to the original 1992/93 Hardcore sound but with a little bit of evolution up it's arse, as oppose to the more breaks influenced style's that are about.
Mostly, Repeat Offender Records, Definitively my favorite label at the moment |

Well that's not real Hardcore Breaks for me. That's the "newer" Breakbeat Hardcore. Check out Reese's Fall 2K8 Studio Mix and you will understand what I hear under "Real Hardcore Breaks" ;P

You are wrong sir. Reese makes new Breakbeat Hardcore. Hardcore Breaks has been the name of this genre since around 2001.

I think both are just called Hardcore Breaks, and I'm sure Reese is Hardcore Breaks ^^ Breakbeat Hardcore is around 140-150 BPM I think, what Reese does is around 180 like normal Hardcore. Why should new Breakbeat Hardcore be at a so much higher speed ? Also what Reese makes is 4-beat, there's a 4-beat in his tracks ( same with other tracks such as Darwin - 4 o'clock ), that's why it's so easy to mix them ( like normal Hardcore Tracks ), not like the thing you call Hardcore Breaks or Durm & Bass. Nooo it just can't be new Breakbeat Hardcore, never ever ! |

Alright, argue with me if you want? Considering that I produce and release Hardcore Breaks at around 145 bpm, then I guess all the shops are putting it in the wrong category? Wow, thanks for setting me straight! I don't know what I would have done without your massive knowledge of musical subgenres!
Do you even know what a 4-beat is? That's what they call a 4-to-the-floor - four kickdrums. Boom Boom Boom Boom. There is no 4-beat in Darwin - 4 o'clock. It is a breakbeat. What you are thinking of is a 4/4 time signature, which is the most common time signature ever. That rock song on the radio? Probably 4/4 signature. That drum'n'bass track? Definitely 4/4. |

I didn't really mean "4-beat" I just wanted to say that in tracks like 4 o'clock you don't need to match the hi-hats or snares ( like in Drum & Bass ) but that there's actually like a 'beat' which is a snare or something, there where the beat would be in UKH/HHC. Cause in "your" Hardcore Breaks the snare you have to match is like ... offset. That's not the case in 4 o'clock and all those tracks. I don't know if you understand what I mean... Ah well forget it ^^
I can't imagine this what Reese makes is Breakbeat Hardcore. That's not logical : Breakbeat Hardcore is the old stuff from the 90s, Hardcore Breaks is new Breakbeat Hardcore made with new technologies, and then there's Breakbeat Hardcore which is new Breakbeat Hardcore or what ? What the ****. |

To be honest, I hate sub category's, I mean if you really want to get technical you could argue that that last few tracks on the set are more jungle tekno than hardcore, so should that be called jungle tekno breaks, NO!!!!!!!! I hated that sub category split the first time round so lets not let it happen again.

Yea but I wanna know what it's called, cause if I'm wrong, everything in my head will be a mess and I will have to rename all the genres of all my Hardcore Breaks tracks in my iTunes playlists + all the playlists ! OMG ! I'm going to create a topic about that. |

OK I kinda see where your logic is coming from, but old breakbeat hardcore (old skool hardcore 1990-1994) was never originally called breakbeat hardcore, back then it was just called hardcore the only reason people refer to old skool hardcore as breakbeat hardcore is so that people know there not talking about old skool 4 beat hardcore 1995 onwards. http://www.divshare.com/download/6907373-8d3
Around 1999/2000 with the big old skool revival that was about at the time people started making new skool breaks/rave breaks.

So it would have been silly at the time to change the name's around just to suite your itunes playlist.
