I was just going to ask, what the hell is tranceore, it seems the older I get (and the more I sleep), the less I know about music, there's genre's popping up everywhere! Although I was once a member of the Hokey-Cokey-Core.

Trancecore was the term for today's freeform in the 90s, back when Sharkey, Kevin Energy, and few others were pioneering the sound. Think back to Sharkey's mixes on Bonkers 2, 3, 4, & 5.

the word Tranecore has a good explanation on the back of WOW what a rush: a freeform hardcore experience, which was released back in 1999
something you can actually use as a citation for wikipedia! :P
inside it details "Bringing music styles together and working against segregation in the dance scene, some people call this Dance phenomenon TRANCE CORE, a tag which has caused mixed reactions from the would be purists of Hard Dance. But many of you will already be familiar with this term from for the merger between Hardcore and Hard Trance/ House."

I read, that Trancecore/Freeform showed up, when a couple of Psytrance-producers decided to mix up their sound with Hardcore Techno elements. I know, that Hardtrance is not very far away from Psytrance, but maybe someone is able to give me more information about the beginning of that Hardcore style.
I gues a lot of genres switch their names, everytime a new generation takes over, although the sound is closely related.

To me trancecore was the GBT & RSR stuff that Bunter and Ramos started playing in late 96, early 97 and the great Helter Skelter Series 1 CD of Bunter & Ramos and then Bunter's United Dance 6 mix. This music was heavily influenced by German stuff like Spaceflower, United Ravers, EDM & Tunnel tracks which made their way over here in 94/95 and made it into Skelter, Dreamscape etc in 96 ish. M Zone and Mark EG really pioneered it then Bunter & Ramos put their twist on it.
I remember early 97 going to a Skelter and Ramos and Bunter played a whole set of it, the room half emptied within 20 minutes as it wasn't happy hardcore but it just blew me away, Bunter playing stuff like his Let The Music remix, Stargate, Listen To That Fat Bass on Spaceflower, Tardis To Brooklyn etc, absolutely amazing stuff.

Quite a tidy Hard trance tune but not really that closely related to Trancecore as i remember it.

I'm still a fan of the earlier Trance influenced stuff. At the time it made a refreshing change from the increasingly cheesy happy hardcore. It sounded like people were still experimenting and not scared to try different things.

I've had em since they were released, i grew up with them they were kind of my staple hardcore albums...Ramos was on OYN 1, Fury was 2 :)
if you're on about the pure techno set, that was Ramos on off yer nut 1, quite understandable if you cant get into that, techno is a very niche genre, nicher than hardcore!
i used to listen to that mix whilst I was doing my homework - it was monotonus and didn't really distract me so it worked quite well!

I used to have both. ME & my brother bought them at a store that sold things cheaper around spring/summer 2000. I don't know what happened around 2002, but I only had Demo's mix left, but then I lost that aswell :(. Around 2007 I bought Off Yer Nut!! 2 again, so technically i never had it for whole 11 years. I usually played N64 games while listening to them :P
