Edit: Could I be proper cheeky and just ask people to just post URLs for YouTube stuff, please?
Sup. I'm looking for old tracks that I don't know about. '90s all the way through to about 2004, is the area I'm looking at. My 2005 onwards knowledge is pretty strong, and relatively strong from 2002 onwards - but bound to be a lot I don't know about.
UFO-vibes is the kind of stuff I'm after. Warm, comforting, uplifting, euphoric, melodious. Can be vocal or non-vocal - doesn't make a difference.
Really keen to get to grips with this period a little bit more.
Edit: I should probably say that I don't really go for the playful/quirky style of tunes, like Toytown for example.
Matt has got beyond the call of duty here and create an astonishing list of classics from yesteryear. I'll repeat it here (originally on page five) so everyone can enjoy it!

One of the best Hardcore tunes of all time. Pretty much all 'Happy' Hardcore fits your description though so there could be quite a list. Even more so if you take into account peoples interpretation of your description will vary. I like your use of the word 'melodious', that's a good word.
Completely random but the mention of UFO reminded me of the label it's on:
This beats Triquatra's Dutch effort hands down imo!
And so now I am going to stop before I (in the words of DJ DNA) goooooo insane!

Have you heard the other mix of it? I think it's so much better but it seems unusually obscure.
_Jay_
Superb. Thanks for all these suggestions lads, really appreciate it.
Can I just say quickly though, can you just do links to YouTube, not the actual videos. This thread is gonna get wicked-slow very quick otherwise!
Simon, out of that first batch you posted - You Are The One (amazing!) and Taking Me Higher are by far my favourite. Definitely heard Taking Me Higher before as well.
You could always give the PPF previews a listen ;)

I think the vocal is the weak point of that track. If you like that vocalist however check this tune out, which i think is really good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27GfbCHy088

Didn't do much for me I'm afraid, Matthew. We're chatting on facebook right now, but it seemed easier to present my negative reaction here. :-/

I might know it if I hear it, but I don't know it by name. Couldn't seem to find it on YouTube either. Let me know if you find it anywhere!
Yes! I know this one, but haven't heard it in a long time. Who's the artist for it? Discogs is telling me it's 'Mr X' which I'm learning is a Vinylgroover alias. Is that right?
I should like it, but I don't. The piano is fast and furious, which is good. But the big kick and the constant repetition of 'Take Me Up' make it a slightly more charged, menacing affair - not really what I'm after.
quote:Originally posted by Samination: Interstate (Scot Brown) - Forever Yours http://youtu.be/ZsfNZg9n5CM?t=47m12s About 47:12 in in this mix (looks to be a good mix aswell).
Gorgeous tune!! Haven't heard that in a while. Need to listen to that one more. I thought this was the proper ID though: "4 Rising Stars Feelin' Me (Breeze & Styles Remix)"

I can't remember if I prefer it to the one I listen earlier. I've listened to a bewildering number of unfamiliar tunes in the last 24 hours. It's good, though. I like it.

I'll try to think of some more it's hard trying not to list what's already been posted. So many great songs already in this list :)

Wow Dougal & TKM - Fire In The Hole is amazing! I was thinking it was the dougal & gammer version for some reason in my head but this is so beautiful - I love that melody. Especially when the swirling strings kick in :)

Nice thanks Matt - been looking for a hardcore version for quite a long while.
Ham version is very nice too, didn't even know that one existed. Heard the one I put up of a slammin vinyl album called Absolute Hardcore 3. Nice CD.
That's got a really nice tune on it called - E-Logic - The Gate - i'm pretty sure Jacek as got this tune on vinyl :P I can't seem to find anything video wise for this :(
Yeah, this is quality! Matt's linked me to this a few times in the past.

Totes forgot about this one!! On an HU album isn't it? 3 or 4 maybe.

I don't think it is man, no. I just logged in using my normal, personal account and I can view the playlist no problem - but there's no option to save it or favourite or anything :-/
That 'Till The Day' track is gorgeous. Matt showed me that yesterday!

Alright, alright - keep your pants on! I'll check it out :-)
Liking that a lot. Sounds much better than the original. Fade & Bananaman are fast becoming some of my favourites from this era (feels weird saying this so retrospectively!). I've just learnt that they are Jhal as well. They've made some amazing stuff - and I bet I've barely scratched the surface!
Angel One - Invincible (Extended Version) not hardcore but again very like hardcore (it's been on some hardcore cd's but timestretched). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaMFed0Dq8g
Blumchen - Pink Cloud (cheesy as hell but wow listen to those breaks - song is laid out so perfectly). Mega Uplifter. Lovely Jubbly :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w_lo-EUuI4
I will check all them out in the morning matt - nice selection!!!! :o
Dain-Ja
Check out all the older Cloudskipper mixes from that era. They're hard to get a hold of but they are just filled with the best tunes. Spree also had some really good selection back then. I know you said you wanted youtube links but most of the tunes in these mixes fit what you want so it wouldn't make sense to go tune by tune. I can make tracklists at some point though.
I've probably listened to the mixes I'm attaching thousands of times over the last ten years, esp New Dawn, Summer Anthems 2003 and Back to the Drawing Board. They don't get old. I just uploaded half a gig so make sure you listen to them - you won't regret it :)
Included:
Cloudskipper - One Step Closer To Being Cool (starts with breakbeat and moves to euphoric hardcore stuff like white widow and ultimate high)
Cloudskipper & No Left Turn - New Dawn (starts with 90s cheese and moves into 2003-2004 UFO style stuff, then goes a bit harder). This is a super cheesy one but it's pretty hard to beat.
Cloudskipper - Back to the drawing board Cd1 and cd2 (both start with breakbeat and move into the stargazer sound from 2004-2005 - so lots of the wicked Raw Elements tunes from the era)
Cloudskipper - Live at the Core - San Francisco 06-27-03 (if you can tolerate the MC you'll hear really good UFO tunes from the era amongst others)
Spree - Summer Anthems 2003 (This is mostly evolution/raver baby/blatant beats stuff from 2003 but it's all soooooo amazing. Flow is great too. Not a bad tune in this mix)
Spree - Summer Anthems 2002 (This doesn't flow as well and it sounds so dated compared to the 2003 one).
If you were looking for stuff before 2002, the Cloudskipper "Frequency Supernova" and "Starlight Symphony" mixes were really good and I could post those too!

_Jay_
Wow! Dain-Ja, thanks a lot. Insane amount of music there. Lots and lots of early 2000s stuff, which is great because I've basically been fed only 90s stuff so far. Some of those mixes sound superb.
Phobz thanks for more stuff too. :-)

Should have made a new post as i never even saw your edited post about this tune. Not that it matters anyway as Brian K replied. The version you linked to is by far the best version of that tune and originally i wanted to find out who did it for ages. It's this: http://www.discogs.com/Donna-Grassie-I-Believed/release/238744

Haha i wasn't even going to bother with 90's stuff to begin with. I am getting to the later stuff too, though it's much harder with that as there is a lot of it.
quote:Blumchen - Pink Cloud (cheesy as hell but wow listen to those breaks - song is laid out so perfectly). Mega Uplifter. Lovely Jubbly :D
This is my favourite Blumchen tune but it sounds completely wrong with English vocals. It's impossible to listen to. The quality of the song itself is also not as good, though might just be down to the upload.
quote:Angel One - Invincible (Extended Version) not hardcore but again very like hardcore (it's been on some hardcore cd's but timestretched).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f40Yk9Scew4 - Have another Angel One tune. This time it is timestretched. It was absolutely caned in 2004ish. It actually sounds right at the timestretched speed too.
quote:Ham - Is Anybody Out There (Remix)
Check out my own listing of this tune. It's not the same remix, but you might think it is by just looking a the name. It's difficult to find on youtube too since they are both just labelled as remixes.
quote:Do you know if anyone still has most of the Sonic Fury archive? Trying to get a uncut version of DJ10fld - 911 Chilli
I have a fair few Cloudskipper and Spree sets (in addition to what has been linked) but not that one. The 2 sets i always want but can never find are 'Live at Happi Happi Joy Joy' and 'Smells Like Updogg'. All the other mixes that i want i either have or i can get but never these. I actually found a link to most of the Cloudskipper mixes a short while ago, with all of links working apart from the latter of the 2 mixes (the former wasn't there at all though), where the link was dead. Typical.
quote: Chwyhnny & Nu Foundation - Stars Align (ooooo breaks & piano magic)
Really good tune.
Phobz
Cheers Matt I will check them both out.
I'm just going to go through some tracks you posted that are brilliant (seeming there's so many) :O
Seduction - Holding On (Vinylgroover Remix)
- Amazing track, had this on my hardcore heaven volume 5 cd. Brilliant. I used to fast forward to the 2:25 point - love that part.
DNA - Somewhere Out There
- Very nice!!! Love the piano. Lovely melody and feel to it.
Monty & D'Skys Featuring DJ Stompy - Electric Love
- Perfect. Love the scratching section :)
Justin Time - Sweet In Pocket '97
- Brilliant song. I seem to like most Justin Time tracks.
Demo & Audio Assault - Magic Touch
- This is amazing!
Demo & Mickey Skeedale - Love U Now
- Really liking this - never heard before.
DJ Vinylgroover - Phantasm (Remix)
- Love vinylgroover always came up with really impressive riffs.
Supreme & UFO - Fantasy Land
- long live fusion!!!
Dream Tripper - Meadowland
- Love the bounciness, would like to hear the flip if that's better
Fabulous Faber - Excitement (Justin Time Remix)
- Goodness that melody is so nice.
Dougal & TKM - Palmstrings
- Wow
Sound Assasins - Like A Prayer
- Damn I love those strings in this song. Such a nice sound.
Vinylgroover & Edy C - Bright Eyes
- Love it. Also here is a nice version - select remix very nice too (also on HH volume 5) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQB5zAaQ7b8
Brisk & Trixxy - Goodbye Summertime - Makes my spine tingle - so uplifting :)
Rapido - Inside Beat (Fade Remix) - One of my favourite songs. I could have this tune on repeat and never get bored. Masterpiece.
Stealth - Flowers Need The Rain (Brisk Mix) - Such an happy energetic track.
There is so many tracks you've listed I couldn't go through them all but picked out some of the ones that jumped out at me. These are all going in a big fat playlist. Best thread :)
This thread should get a sticky, it really is informative and filled with good tracks. :)
Phobz
Ah Matt - When i listen to the german version of pink cloud it feel's so strange because i've never heard it before. Only the english version. I really like Rosa's voice. And she is sexy.
Sorry I didn't notice you put Ham - Anybody out there up. So many tracks in this list it's going to get hard to avoid I will check out the version you put up. I heard DJ Cruze play a version eons ago i've been looking for it a long time. Maybe that's the one :)
I think that version of Invincible is the one that was put on an hardcore cd. I can't remember for the life of me which one though. Sure it was Original Hardcore or one of the later Hardcore Heavens.
I just have to add this track to the list. This is an all time favourite - there's also a breeze & styles remix but I think the original is in a league of it's own.
Ultimate High is an unbelievable tune. Always loved that.
Hard2Get
Absolutely loved Ultimate High when i first heard it in 2002. Funnily enough in one of the Cloudskipper sets i mentioned.

I used to have "Smells like Updogg", but lost it in my harddrive crash back in 2005 as I dont think I ever burned it on disc.
I Stand corrected. I actually have 911 Chilli (10fld), Smells Like Updogg (cloud) and 2k2 Anthems (spree), but all of them are mp3 mixes cut to single tracks and then burned to Audio-CD. I will see what I can do to restore them

Dain-Ja, just finished 'Spree - 2003 Summer Anthems Mix'. Some gorgeous stuff in there. I knew about 60% of the tunes. Some good ones I need IDing, if you can mate?
1) 23/24/25 minutes. "You make me feeeel. Over and over" are the vocals. Could quite easily be a Styles vocal, actually.
2) 35/36/37 minutes. "Na, na, na, naah", female vocal. It's the track after Hardcore Hustler. Pretty certain I've never heard it, but what tune!
3) 1.05/1.06 minutes. Pretty sure it's called Ordinary World, but I dunno the artist. Tune.

@Matt - gradually working my way though. Just want to mention Do We Have To Say Goodbye on Quosh. What a tune. So, so uplifting. The little stabby uplifting bits (my production vocabulary is improving, eh?). Cannot believe it's not on YouTube! I can send You Smells Like Updogg if you want it, 4 years after the fact lol

Cloudskipper
Yeah me either honestly

I may not like him as a person, but all the Cloudskipper mixes Dain-Ja posted are pretty phenomenal. He was on top of his game back then.

I presume it was me that asked :P I split it so I could have it on CD. Also, the fourth track is DJ Sek & DJ Pont-6 - Arnica (Techno version)

thanks for the track ID. I lost alot of my makina vinyl as well a few others during one of my moves. Its sucks they were hard to get in the first place. I am constantly checking for CD comps that have some of these tunes. Ive been able to get some of them.
Samination
Well you're the reason I got into Makina, and I got about most of these tracks on vinyl/itunes-mp3's

In the really unlikely event that you read this now, i didn't even see this reply at all until now! As it happens i now need all of the mixes again...

Anyone remember this one? Remember hearing part of this on radio around the track was about - 1995 or 96. Never knew who it was but came across it recently on youtube. I wouldn't have guessed it was by these two, a bit different to their style at that time but still like the sound of this nonetheless.
