QD-RIGHTUP ok iv got myself a numark mixer the dm1001mx and iv started scratchin a few weeks ago only thing is right everytime i go to scratch i try for bout a couple of hours a night but through both crossfaders iv bought theyv went in the second/third night now that works out bout 4-6 hours of scratchin ending up with a shitty crackly fader does anyone know why this is happning?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I H8 PUNK HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
DJ Mouse for a start it's numark, not the best of makes for reliability.
try putting in a little less pressure on the crossfader when moving it,it's the friction that's wearing it out.

saintberry its something you have to put up with numark mixers, there faders just arent designed for lots of cycles.

next mixer you get make sure it has @ least VCA (voltage controlled amplifier) faders.

or go all out and get a rane that has those ever so sweet magnetic faders. id stay away from focus faders 1. on the version one you cant have a curve control with it, and 2. i find them way too loose (could be my style tho)

i remember playing with on @ a house party once and would tap it ever so light in a scratch and it would fly all the way over to the other side of the fader cutting of the rekid i was playing. it gave the set lets say an 'interesting effect' - i didnt do any more scratching that set :P. oh case you didnt know the focus faders are the optical ones ;)

DJ Affliction Numark gear isn't the best

Your either puttin 2much pressure on it or just workin it 2hard

Go easy on it & see if it copes any better

How good is your scratchin??????

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I H8 PUNK HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
DJ Mouse technics are too plain for my liking. get any vestax mixer

--------------------------------------------------
"Did you know that eleven plus two is an anagram of twelve plus one?"

DJ Mouse
saintberry lol most vestax mixers are MORE plain than technics ones...take the 06 and 05 pro for example, pov little outputs and only 2ban EQ :P

technics mixers are dope, they have tops faders, some of the best ive used, other good ones are the rane magnetic bizoiches and P&G faders that you will find on tones of high end mixers these days.

good scratch mixers you coudl look out for: Rane TTM-56 (pricy, but the best) Vestax PMC-07 pro (costly, but some say its worth it for the eq faders) Vestax 06 and 05 pro (both the same mixer, but one is tall and skinny and the other wide and fat, good entry level scratch mixer, only bad thing - 2band eq) Ecler Hak 360 (king mixer, nuff said) Ecler Hak 310 (basically the same quality as the 360 but with less features and of course cheaper, that is prolly what id get and will get when buying a scratch mixer :) and then the Technics SH DJ 1200 (clean, simple and good, prolly cheaper too depending on where you live)

thats my idea on the matter, some may differ, but if you like scratching it think its vital to have a mixer that is up to the task

like hixxy is playing in my town tomorrow night and i was shocked to find that the mixer there using will be a djm500, i mean what the ****, it dosent have cuvre control!!!! if hixxy wants to do any scratching he will either have to battle with the wide curve of it and sound pov or be limited by the upfaders. not happy :( cos he prolly jsut wont do any scratching

DJ Affliction That'z well untrue Vestax mixers are f***** amazin

Most of ma DJ matez av em so there well reliable if you've got the cash

Hardcore u know the score!!!!!

DJ Affliction
saintberry when did i ever say they wernt good? :P, vestax make dope mixers, just snot the best, and i dont think anyone can debate that...

Did a say you did????

You sed they were plain/did you mean to spell like that or woz it accidentally????

Hardcore u know the score!!!!!!!

DJ Affliction
saintberry kk, my response was to mouse who said "technics are too plain for my liking. get any vestax mixer" all i was pointing out was that the vestax 05 and 06 pro have less features (are more plain) than the technics SH DJ 1200

i prolly didnt word it right in ma first post about it :) in the long run tho it dosen matter, vestax do make dope mixers - there aint no disputing that =)

DJ Affliction Well am glad we both agree then that Vestax make Dope mixers

A ment that you spelt sumfin wrong but it just complicated fings so it dn't matter!!!!!

Hardcore u know the score!!!!!!!!!

DJ Affliction
fazza wot did he spell wrong? spellin looked fine to me!!

"I feel you, i want you, i know your touch is all i need, im waiting you're shining"
Atlas Yea i 'ear that Vestax is the shit as well. I was pondering saving up for one of their professional mixers, but thats a good bit of change.

But what about the faders.....

I have a 60mm fader right now an im decent, no Dj Sy or anything, but good considering ive only been mixing for a year and some change, my crew seems impresed enough anyways. Would switching to a smaller fader dramatically effect my scrathcing, or does it depend on my style?

Oh yea, im still looking for replacement faders for a behringer mixer by the way, if anyone knows were to find them...

"Ravers don't fall, they trip and roll."
itchy **** any other faders its all about the penny&gilles i have one in my vestax 07 and ive never used a better fader in the last 7 years

Exhile I think the new PCV faders from vestx are phenominal but ive only had it a couple of months so i dont know what the durability is like

Peace, love and unity

Dj Francus
Tricky AB I have yet to hear anything bad about the vestax mixers...
