sgp69 I have been listening to some old Helter Skelter tapes and i have to say Man Parris is the worst MC i have ever heard - Does anybody know how the hell he got to MC at such a big event ?

SGP69
whittle1 Man he's shit!
And so is his other half 'Sticksman'
I heard a rare remix of timebomb that Hixxy did once with Sticksman & Mad Paris. It was terrible.

DJ Vibalrush I agree i think hes absolutely terrible. One of my favourate Helter Skelter tapes (Sy 98) would have been so much better without his MCing over it. Fair play to the guy though, hes considered by many to be a legend, just not my cup of tea when it comes to MC's.

When the door bell goes, why do dogs always think its for them??

He only ever seemed to appear at Helter Skelter, so maybe he was something to do with them?

Stixman was usually paired with Magika, rather than Man Parris, but to be fair they're all crap.

Ya know what i think ur right, but i dont keep current on crappy artists ur right he is a DJ but talks like an MC and hes the worst in both sections

It's Hardcore or BUST!
bulby_g his style used to suit hardcore many years ago but times change and I don't think he is quite up with the pace and energy of nuskool.

djscorch Agreed, he is dogshit, he spends most of his time talkin to his mates or skinning up rather than actually MCing anyway.

Seize the moment
DJ Superman anybody got a clip of this mad paris? if he's getting slated this much it's gotta be worth a listen!

I'll make a clip :) Although, it's hard to make a decision from only hearing a clip.

The_DJ_Euphoria LOLZ!

mc man parris is one of the original mc's from the origins of the rave scene in the late 80's onwards. he is considered to be the rave scenes first mc and is an awesome mc....depending on the genre. perhaps try educating yourself by listening to some of the music from back in the day, when music was new and exciting before judging him too harshly. i recommend his set with Fabio at amnesia wedding (the first rave wedding) you can find it on youtube
arpz wow, necro
Vladel I could never stand man Paris. He sounded like he could keel over and die at any minute! As for magika, my favourite mc from back in the day
Elipton Yeah it's pretty appalling. On a whole though, he makes less noise than most MC's. Knowing moderation is probably a more appreciated skill than what they actually rhyme during their little spurts. I sometimes see Wotsee posting entire paragraphs of his MC lines and they never seem to end.

Bizarrely, Man Parris teaches music production at Derby University.

Mickey Init When Helter Skelter did that Resurrection event with Uproar in 2007, Man Parris did a classics set with Dougal and at one point he laid down on the stage chilling out, spitting rhymes. Pretty sure he was wearing sunglasses, too.
Captain Triceps I can take or leave him to be honest, he's certainly not ruined as many sets as some other MCs have by constantly spouting bollocks throughout.

He's bringing a book out this year I believe. He posted an excerpt on Facebook.

But all of the preparation in the world did not prepare me for what was in the near future, Rave organisers where tracking me down on my pager it was bleeping rapidly for bookings something I have never undertook before "i needed a secretary" my bookings got mixed up, I had no structure at all, everything got written into a book but not in any particular order so it was mayhem until I received a call from dy-na-mix Artist Management of which Evil Eddie Richards owned asking if i wanted to be managed he also asked Doc Scott? well we both said yes to this big opportunity and after a few questions we was on the books and boy it was off the scales the places, different countries, different DJ's from all over the world i was a bit out my depth and a bit scared because i would go on these events on my own, some places like Portugal 1993 where they didn't speak English as their second language it was really hard work, all i knew was that i was Mcing two big international super star Dj's and Producers Danny Tenaglia of the Tribal Record Label and DJ Vibe not to be mistaken for the uk hardcore DJ vibes

I really, really hope this is just taken from his initial notes and the whole book won't be written like this, it would be nigh on impossible to read. I mean surely it won't be, there will be proofreaders and editors and the like. I'll probably consider it, might be a few decent stories in there.

I expected that to be worse than it was. It isn't too terrible. He certainly sounds less annoying than current MCs.
wong he aint bad, heard worse... much worse

The book extract talks about the lack of structure and organisation during a point in his life, without any full stops or logical comma-placement. It's either genius or ironic.
djDMS Not an entirely pointless ten year bump then

Ha, aye I did notice that, I don't think it's intentional genius on his part though. He does say in one of the comments there is a proofreader, thank Christ.
The_DJ_Euphoria As far as i'm aware he no longer teaches, but yes he is writing his memoirs and spelling and grammar may not be his finest points, but he is having it proof read/corrected for him. maybe i am biased because i have known him for 25 years nearly, and getting a mention in his book as we used to put on illegal raves back in the 90's haha

i can see why some people don't like his style, as i said it doesn't suit all genres of music, but he doesn't over cook it like D&B mc's do nowadays. for modern mcs it's all about them instead of the music. the mc was there to get the crowd hyped, not to waffle endlessly for thier own selfish needs.

Which is why I don't dislike him nearly as much as some folk do.
When do you reckon the book will be ready mate, are we thinking this year?
The_DJ_Euphoria he's been writing it for nearly a year i think so i would hope sometime this year, although when i spoke to him this week he said there's over 30 years worth of stuff to fit in. another mate of mine had an autobiography released last year and his took next to no time to publish when finished so yeah, i would expect later in the year for sure. im looking forward to getting my hands on it!

Well, he doesn't need to chuck in every detail really. A late release that has been done properly is much better then a rushed job that reads like crap, so if it takes longer then so be it.
Who's your mate who had the autobiography? Someone in the rave scene or completely unrelated?
The_DJ_Euphoria it was dave ginelly, the book is called warders and wellies and is an autobiography of a drug dealer from my hometown, nuneaton. a great read and available on amazon (quick plug for him!)

Nice one, looks alright that!
Sparki Dee yes one of the ones Im not keen on is Man Paris, and I know I'll get crucified for this but Mad P from Top Buzz.... I just dont get the hype he sounds terrible, often cringe worthy. Touchy subject is MC's though and I often been slated for my opinions on them lol. MC Marley was the only one I really liked.
Earthwire Man parris is shit saying that another that sticks in my mind is Chickaboo was on a few dance paradise sets
DJ A.K. I used to hate Man Parris on tapes back in the day but you know what when I saw him live I kinda liked him, I was obviously wasted but his style seems to fit the wasted state of mind with his words of wisdom (lol) and lazy rymes...... hes definately not the best MC ever though
