So i been listening to Gammer's track's on soundcloud lately and most of it just seems to be sped up dubstep, wtf is going on? What happened to the sound of Gammer's track's from 10 even 5 year's ago? I know hardcore is changing but his recent stuff....... dubstep really? What does everyone else think of his latest track's and also hardcore in general from the likes of breeze, styles etc. Am i getting old and struggling to keep up with the sound of their material or are their track's really going down hill?
wong
he's moved on and making shit loads of money, get over it and support the lesser known producers that still make hardcore

Well I mean you gotta think of Gammer as a whole.
He's been a great guy throughout the hardcore scene. We CANNOT disagree with that, he has changed with the scene and pushed it in many ways. The guy has been making hardcore for 15+ years. But he ALWAYS has been blending genres for years. He has been all over dubcore, all over trap, I mean really, he's been in practically ever y large scene coming on.
I mean this is just my opinion, but there really is only so much someone can take from the scene, or so much someone can produce in the scene before they get bored, or they just don't feel it anymore. Gammer may be changing (and I can't agree for the best) but he is moving on and I think we all really need to stop bashing him for making what he's making now. He's moved on, he's doing something else now. Yes I know he keeps calling his Dubstep infused trap shit "Happy Hardcore" but let that sink his career on its own. We all know what happy hardcore is and we are the ones that move the scene.
Keep raving y'all.

So true man
Mickey Init
But what?s this new thing with Gammer grabbing the mic and chatting bollocks during his own sets? Is this what they?re all doing nowadays?

*things I said has already been mentioned*
Guest
he should just make proper hardcore, anything is beter then destructive tendancies ********
and they got signed to masters of hardcore for no actual reason
the whole back catalog is the same shit
DjZelous
This is how i see it. id rather have him making decent dubstep instead of horrible shitty hardcore

Atleast whoever listens to doesnt post in on the Hardcore subforum...

dubstep died like drum & bass, and became a gay scene, while hardcore will never die, happy hardcore already exists for them who come along and start crying about everything
a thousand faces of hardcore that all just make a single set if you are good at mixing, and the randomness of the 12 hour event

I'm not rushing in to defend the guy - he was a total tool for using my name for that Sonic track on Clubland (to his credit, when we shared a place in Canada he apologised and offered me the rights. I also managed to punch him in the face towards the end of his set by accident) but he got a fair bit of flak for his recent Radio 1 mix. I'll write here what I wrote on Facebook:
1) Diplo does not operate a hardcore slot
2) Gammer can make virtually anything he wants, so let him.
3) Where did it say it was a hardcore mix?
Sure, I, like many preferred his older stuff, but to be fair, he's rubbing shoulders with some very big names, making some decent money and playing events that the rest of us can only dream about. He's still exposing a LOT of people to the faster side of things, even if what he does doesn't necessarily represent hardcore as a whole. Him and Styles have earned and deserve what they have.
He may make absolute crap - that is totally subjective, but he needs to make a living. I'd personally backflip if he did an update of "let it go", or better yet, gave it to me ;)
Guest
still should make some proper hardcore
make modern hardcore kicks, layering 3 VST, instead of using all OCS's on a single VST
need version 1.5 of bass drum murda, 1.6 is rubbish and the distortion does'nt do anything
Each and every day, Guest gets further and further away from the actual point of these posts. I'm starting to wonder if he is a shitposter or just plain insane.
Guest
everyone who does the summer gathering lurks on here and 100 other's
making your own kicks are alot better then some rubbish from a sample CD
he can start with this
if you want posh leads without a virus, you can mess about with

True, but like
Do you ever get to go through a thread without seeing guest spamming the shit out of videos that are unrelated to the topic, haha!
Guest kind of always ends up ending the whole conversation altogether.
Guest
not really, first question, why do you hate the hardcore scene

Hadn't heard of Meltdown before you put this link up Guest. He seems to be new to the scene. His release with Choose the way and Surviving the times quite liking the sound of. I'm fussy with my Dutch hardcore but like this, like the sound of kickdrum in choose the way and the drum in Surviving the times has more distortion but not too much like other Dutch hardcore tracks.
" dont see the point of uk hardcore outside of the club? "
lol jesus dude; that's as bad as " I only rave on 3 dutch pressies" . lol.
i listen to uk hardcore while driving; while eating; while sleeping; while ****ing.
uk hardcore is far to gay for me, without being surrounded by aload of 12 inch sub's
Quicksilver
This song is so epic until it drops. I mean, what a ****ing wasted opportunity. He has an excellent breakdown and buildup and ****s it up royally. What an incredible tune that would've been had he kept the melody in the drop.
trippnface
"why does this sound so similar to Darren Styles us against the world?"
"Meh. More Gammer. 5.5/10 "
"meh, just some lazy hardcore that sounds no different from All Night, Us Against the World, or a myriad of other tracks"
lol.
Well, that was fast. I don't recall people ever getting sick of the " new sound" that fast.
Beam of light is alright, alot better than couple of the other tracks on the same EP! The Drop is awful.
Sulphurik
He's gone dubstep ok....The Drop.
Gammer did a Radio 1 1 Xtra guestmix (on soundcloud). There's a big mixture of styles on this, to be fair there's some hardcore tracks (from what I've heard on the mix) inc. Us against the world. There's a track at 17m 20s, I can feel your heart beat, was sounding good before breakdown but then it went downhill!!!

I've always said, he can do what he wants. I just don't get why anyone thinks that sounds good. Massive build up of energy then a horrid, anticlimactic drop.
The drunken scotsman
That reminds me of the rubbish that Klubfiller used to produce (possibly still does but Im past caring). Great build up and melody, followed by the most disappointing drop possibly imaginable. Absolute dog shite.
As mentioned above, Gammer can do whatever the hell he wants, but I struggle to understand anyone who would enjoy that.
trippnface
I just find it interesting it looks like a good majority of new gammer fans ( monstercat crew) are already getting bored of his very boring sound. Here wer are, 10 years later, wishing he would still make the music we love, though.
not really hating beam of light, i still dont think it's hardcore, but it is loads better than the usual garbage. Though even so, looks like the group he is targeting now is already getting over the Stonebank sound. Which is the sound darren & gammer cant get enough of. Curious to see how this plays out.
Probably him disregarding "happy hardcore" even more, and just going full trap. So he can go " I gtold you so "
Samination
for what it's worth, i've heard worse from him. But yea, this isn't uncommon for him for the past 8 or so years. He and Dougal loved those minimalistic drops like butter

I mean honestly
**** me I'm famous
The horns of Jericho
(As much as I actually like this song) one for the Ravers
They seem to be one of the offenders when it comes to minimal drops.
Quicksilver
Re-Con was an offender of that as well. I thought some of those minimal drops worked but most of them not. I still can't get over how good the Superhuman remix could have been if the drop had the melody from the buildup. Biggest disappointment music wise in 2017. :P

It's kind of like You and I by Darren Styles and Gammer. The drop wasn't the worst, but could have been better. Which is why I loved it when Rhythmics did his rifftastic version and it got turned into a proper remix!
Samination
wait, Rhythmics became good again after Breeze took him under his wing?
The drunken scotsman
I think the worst offender in the minimal drop category is Lift me above by United in Dance (Styles, Dougal & Gammer). It was from around 2005 when this was unheard of.
I remember the first time I heard that epic build up and beautiful vocal, followed by what can only be described as a ****ing car crash. I skipped through the track in the hope that it was just a prelude to what should have been an epic riff and I still remember the disappointment when I realised that it wasn?t coming. I still listen to it occasionally just for that breakdown.
Quicksilver
The first track after the intro, the Luv U More Tweekaz & Gammer flip is damn fantastic. I want more of that sweet, sweet happy and frantic style.
Some absolute bangers in that mix there!

Sorry to necrobumb an old thread, but I just need to help out a fellow hardcore head :D The Technikore remix of Lift me Above song is solid, has an uplifting melody after the drop befitting of the build up with the beautiful vocals. https://www.discogs.com/Various-Xclusive-Happy-Hardcore/release/1253542 It's on this CD. LMK if you can't find the song!
