Yeah, it was in Norton which is near Middlesbrough. It was a big event for the North East, but as you said, maybe not for people out of the area. It wasn't on a scale of anything like The Rez, or the likes

Nah. It was a pretty big club. Their events were in Stockton-on-Tees. It was a similar concept to Club Kinetic. I always liked tapes from these events because more obscure stuff was played. Same with Uprising.
This is their NYE 1995 event. Scott Brown played. He's on this video at 1 hour 7 minutes.

Around 1994/95 the further you went north the harder the music was. In the Midlands you had a mix of Diehard (which played Happy and Breakbeat) then Pandemonium that was more Breakbeat Jungle. The further south you went the more Breakbeat it was. Places like Fusion etc. Great time to be raving in the UK.

Ah cool, I get you. So i would imagine there was more of the "tartan techno" up in the North East because of the influence from Scotland. Explains why like you said it is more of the harder stuff like Dwarf, Babyboom, Screwdriver etc

The Scottish were responsible for their own sub genre 'Bouncy Techno', but yes, lots of the Dutch stuff was getting played at Rezerection & The Fubar.

Diehard was in leicester, and Kintetic in Stoke, then there was the pleasuredome in Liverpool. They were the "big three" before you got to Scotland. Then Steam hit in N Wales. The warehouse parties were mainly down south, and in Scotland. Hardcore events popped up nearly everywhere tbh, they were so popular 95-97. Even hear in Wales we had 3 regular places. Hillside, Southern and Marthas.
I have vague memories of most places, some I aren't even sure are real tbh, that whole period of my life is a complete blur.
That Davie Forbes selection shows how good the man was at Hardcore. It's no suprise to me he's having success in Trance now. He gave me permission to remix one of his tracks once and tbh I didn't do it justice, but getting that honour was so cool, he's such a good bloke.

Fantasy Island is the venue, not the event. It's a family amusement park.
Just a few examples of Pleasuredome events in Skegness.
I only ever saw the fliers for Fantasy Island, looked mad with about 10 rooms. But not many people ever seemed to talk about it, Helter, Dreamscape yes, but never that place for some reason.

I used to think it was an event too, because as you say, the flyer always had 'Fantasy Island' in big letters.

It's Speedy Joe (Gordon Tennant) - Muzak Man. Have also heard Speedy Joe track, sounds great also. Always did like the style of good number of Gordon Tennant's releases. Couple of favourites including Spiral Force, A Can Fly, Eurocore (Rezerrection Mix), Latin Stomp, The Incredible. Euro Stomp still my favourite.

That was Helter Skelter 'Voyager' in March 1996. He played it last. Vibes also played it.
I recently had to buy it again as my white label copy had a hairline crack through it. So I now have the full release as well.

I have noticed that Dougal has been uploading a bunch of tracks from the Essential Platinum labels onto Beatport (https://www.beatport.com/label/essential-platinum/17260/tracks), both 90s and 2000s. I am curious if the plan is to make all the tracks available as there isn't too many from the 90s up there yet. Hopefully they all get made available.

That link is broken. I have managed to pick up most digitally anyway, via restored vinyl rips etc.

Just came across this classic from a recent DJ Panic online mix. Managed to find out what the track was, initially thought it sounded like Paul Elstak but it's Wonderland. Another of their tracks Fantasy Of Love has the vocals that feature in Brisk & Trixxy's Eyeopener.

Yes you're right. First version of the track heard was the Brisk mix which always liked and still do. Like the original also but think Slipmatt's remix is even better! Melody sound at 2m 45 - love it.
Loved Slipmatt's style especially around 96 & 97.

Not got this but noticed on this album on CD2 - Higher Love (Slipmatt & Billy Daniel Bunter Remix). The remix Slipmatt did in 1996 was just his remix. The remix on above CD this maybe was the rave breaks remix that they did which was on Helter Skelter Vs Raindance Present Rave Nation The Anthems.

Yes you're right. First version of the track heard was the Brisk mix which always liked and still do. Like the original also but think Slipmatt's remix is even better! Melody sound at 2m 45 - love it.

Yeah. I don't usually draw for a Bunter set.
Tbh he said in the interview in the user area for the Hattrixx album that he didn't really have much input on some of the tracks. I believe D-Zyne was the engineer for most of his tracks.

There were a few dance tracks that came into popular music, then when I was into rave i'm hearing them again. More so in the house scene late 80s early 90s tbh.
Was a fun time as it was a whole new thing going on.

Id have been 15 when Numero Uno came out lol I was loving the "dance music" revolution appearing in the charts. S'Express, Bomb the bass, MARRS stuff like that. Only stuff that hit the top 40 then, wasnt a great deal of scope otherwise, unless you were in the know. I had MARRS Pump up the volume on a 45 lol

Probably because that's considered cheese by modern standards, it was considered cheesy by the standards at the time, but it had a lot of energy, Hixxy actually knew how to make a track really kick hard.
The best one on that list is the Davie Forbes mix of back in business. That guy could do no wrong back in the day, such a talent, i've nagged him before for a remastered back catalogue but it never seems to happen.

The happiest ever tune ? Blimey, can't answer that, because to me, the happy part of happy hardcore was the break and for me, had to be a vocal-less one. Back in the day, there were less vocal breaks than instrumental.

Mate, learn to use the youtube function yeah, just take the video ID , in this case PRNrpBT2i68
And use the youtube button to wrap it with the [ youtube ][ /youtube ]
Then the video plays in the forum. Saves opening new pages all the time.
There have been times when have used the youtube link function but doesn't show the video link in the preview post and after I post. It's maybe a browser issue at my end.

Anyone remember a hardcore remix of the Love Revolution - Why can't we see track? There's also the Blind truth version of the track. The hardcore mix have heard from around 1996 does sound a little like the Blind truth - Milano mix but much faster - similar piano sound.

Have part of this track on tape from years ago but didn't know it was by - had been attempting to transfer from tape to computer earlier but didn't get sorted. Had feeling it was by Stompy and found this on Stompy anthology volume 2. Love sound of main melody that comes in after 1 minute.
Another track is this one Elevation. Knew this as Stompy & Trixxy - Party from original Hardcore Heaven 5.

Always loved this one from Bonkers 6. After listening again to this in the video below, realised there's part in the middle that wasn't in the mix on Bonkers 6. Quite like the slower breakdown part and then when it builds up again into main part of the track. This remix still sounds great now.
