Skeenip Wondering how HHC or raves in general are going all abouts the world. Getting bigger? smaller? What style of music is dominating the dancefloors? Whats your prediction on whats gonna be the new sound?

Here in Australia raves are growing damn fast, good events can get 2000 easy. Utopia (Largest event in sydney) filling out to 10,000 easily. Music wise, theres an even blend of hard trance, hard house, hardcore, HHC, gabba and Oldskool anthems on the floor, with breaks coming back in a little.

"...Will there ever come a day, when I can turn around and say, It's alright now..."
silver Offtopic: I used to play early Utopia's and other PowerHouse parties... they were real small then... onyl about 500 people max... Glad to see things have grown!
DJ e-Klyps The scene in the UK has exploded since 2000. Once skelter had left things were looking bleak but now things are looking real healthy again.

djtate Yer raves are much better now that helter skelter is back!

Like Micheal Jackson I 'm a lyrical thriller Jack Nickloson I 'm a hardcore killer like Peter Pan iam the boy who can fly like a 747 right up to the sky
Edward In what ways does everyone think the style of hardcore music has changed?

In my opinion, the tempo has slowed down. The music has also broken away from light, happy, bouncy tracks to more serious hard trancy tunes. Helter Skelter/Compulsion in May 2001 is a good example of this.

I think that is a good change, because a bit of a change is what the scene really needs (or needed).

Skeenip Geeez silver where you like part of everything back in the day? Glad people like you where around back then pushing the scene, otherwise we wouldn't have it right now.

"...Will there ever come a day, when I can turn around and say, It's alright now..."
silver Yep after creating man the world and everything I decided to rest on Sunday :)

Not really... I just have stayed with "techno" along along time and gotten to know alot of people.
FingazMc ed
yea the tempo has slowed down alot in my view its gone very trancey and even sumtimes i can hear a bit of hard house
this is kinda good cuz it gets more people into the scene

Skeenip Agreed ed, i'm sure its been said elsewhere, happy is losing alot of the breaks and incorporating trancy elements. Its all good though, I'm loving eveery bit of it.

cookietrip143 I currently reside in colombia, south america yet started my love affair with happycore while livin in lovely southern california.the cali scene, back when I was there -96 through 99 -was un*****beleivable.been back in colombia since and unfortunately cannot say the same.
as far as I know I´m the only hhc d.j. here which makes things kind of difficult.
I´ve been thinking of organizing an event but the thought of being the only happycore d.j. sandwiched between a dozen techno/house/techouse d.js doesnt motivate me lately.thats what people r used 2 here.
I personaly couldnt care less about techno/house parties yet unfortunately it makes up what colombians refer to as "the ""RAVE"" scene".
evry time I start thinkin of throwin a party I end up thinkin that money would b petter spent on other things.oh well.
I´ve talked to promoters and have spun for a few to show´em whut "THe StYLE" is all about and always end up hearing the same shit.
"sounds nice but...How do u dance to it?"
or
"thats too "HEAVY""
ARGHH!!!
frustrating.

but I tell ya
one of these days.ONE OF THESE DAYS!

aznwasian I love the LA scene. so many raves. yumilicious.

-I can't stop raving...
silver cookie: I'm sure there are a few DJ's on happyhardcore.com that might want to come down for a "holiday" and DJ for your event... I totally recommend puting on an event, you control everything about it and can play for happy tunes for all the people that come and introduce them to happy hardcore

Good luck!
Lusive There doesnt appear to be any hhc scene here in brisbane, Australia.. occasionally we get a hard house rave that has a side room with some hhc gabba kinda stuff... but i have only heard a decent hhc set about three times in the last year or so.. one was hixxy.. another was tizer from ireland (damn good) and the other was at a day rave.. it was a local guy who never usually plays happy.. and he didnt play too much. most hardcore that goes around here is the more noizey gabba kinda stuff (neophyte?) ...no melodies.. or very simple ones.

i dont know anyone else remotely interested in gettting something going here (...well 'cept heist). but if people were willing i'd be very happy to put in the effort to do a hhc event.. did i mention f**k all hhc comes into the brisbane record stores?

Open your eyes, see all the love in me, I got enough for ever.
Dont be afraid, take all you need from me, and we'll be strong together...
Carrie i love my scene here in houston. HHC isn't popular at all really. i claim to be one of the few people that likes it. HappyHardcore bashing is quite popular. :( so sad.

Midway_raver Sorry i have to disagrree botu skelter n the scene it is ok bringing in hard hosue trance fans etc but wot about the hhc n hardcore among us:) they risk losing us if they go to soft:( Big it up dave n penny for ther ework with skelte rthru time!!!!1

Elation yea, i see alot of companies pushing hard house on the rasta now...only because its the money maker and with the happy scene not as strong as it used to be, they need to offer more of what is going to keep their head above water.

it does suck to see less hardcore, but at least they havent turned their backs on it...like alot of companies here in TORONTO. we get a slim few parties now with HHC, but they still pop up now and then. we were just lucky to have the hardcore scene as big as it was a few years back. i used to play at parties here and there under a different name, but now...well... you know...

(:(:happyhardcoresmiles:):)
Heist SILVER SAN!! I shall have to recruit you here in brisbane for a HHC set! What do you charge an hour? We need hardcore!!

silver Heist: sure no problem, email me the details [email protected]
Lixx Well even though I'm at college in San Luis Obispo where I can see absolutely no signs of a rave scene, back in my home region of Sacramento Simon Apex puts on an all hardcore party once a month. And it really is all hardcore except for maybe 1 hard nrg/trance dj that rocks the party anyways (DJ Dragn'fly). Last month we had ron d core playing old skool and bangin techno and dj dummy and mc verbal from seattle as special guests, with simon apex doing a live pa of his new shit. This month? The one and only DJ Sharkey as well as a live pa from Dionysus, the creator of Romantek records. Along with 12 other hardcore dj's including simon apex, lostboy from LA, dj starr from arizona, amber from the bay area, and a bunch of local hardcore dj's, this makes it the fifth incredible norcal party in simon's smile series. I totally take it for granted I know cause even though I caught the last one on august 25 I'm already getting party withdrawl (*can't control the urge! must dance to loud hardcore now!*). But hardcore is definitely getting noticed up in norcal cause at every party I've been to the number of dancing ravers at least doubles when a hardcore dj comes on and when a trance or house dj comes on the floor clears up pretty good. Hopefully hardcore will get it's day all over the US cause there is no way the scene is shrinking if it gets the everlasting support of a great hardcore dj like simon apex. Not kissing his ass either, cause he just loves hardcore and has worked his ass off to bring all that he can to the hardcore kids of california. And for all the ravers out there, support all your local scenes because unlike mainstream ******** that is overseen my greedy corporations, the underground scenes and djs are there for the love of the music and the fans. Oops. Almost turned into a rant there. Hardcore forever

-Lixx

Elation sounds like you got a kik azz scene over there. im goin to a hardcore party on saturday in toronto. yay!!! it was moved from a closer location to me. damn. its locals. grimace vs dominik, but hey...nuff respect. . its ok if you rant now and then, it just shows your passion for the music.

(:(:happyhardcoresmiles:):)
silver Hardcore is kicking it all over the world ATM!
b1o i read the post about happy hardcore going from the great breaks, light, and bouncy sound to a sorta trancy hard sound. personaly this upsets me greatly as I love the old happy hardcore sound. I really hope that some of the artists keep their stuff old school, or at least when they release a trancy track release an old school happy track alongside it. It saddens me to think that happy hardcore is evolving into yet another trance sound.
silver b10: not everything coming out is trancy, I wouldn't worry about it just yet. Although the promo I have of "power of love 2001" remix is very trancy.
Elation i would love to see a heavy lean back to the BREAKS!!! the speed of it all, with the breaks is whats hooked me fer life.

(:(:happyhardcoresmiles:):)
DjGAV YEAH FOR SURE. THE RAVE SCENE IN SYDNEY HAS GONE 'BOOM'. THERE IS STILL THE MAJORITY OF RAVERS GOING FOR THE HARDCORE BUT THERE IS AN INCREASING NUMBER OF TRANCE AND HARD HOUSE FANS COMING TO THE RAVES, WHICH HAVE PRIMARALY BEEN FOR HARDCORE. NOW INSTEAD OF PPL SAYING ' ****ING SICK ANTHEMS BY FENIX OR WHOEVER' THERE IS OTHER COMMENTS SAYING HOW GOOD BEXTA'S TRANCE WAS. I AM NOT CRITISIZING, I THINK ITS AWESOME FOR RAVERS TO EXPAND THEIR MUSIC TASTES BUT I JUST THINK IT'S DISRESPECTFUL TO THE ROOTS OF SYDNEYS RAVE SCENE...THE HAPPYHARDCORE SCENE. I GUESS I JUST LIKE THE UNDERGROUND SHIT.
ANYONE GOING TO BACK 2 BASICS??

silver DjGAV: Don't post in all caps
huggablez420 I'm in Chicago and I can honestly say that the scene here is AWFUL where Happy Hardcore is concerned :( :( :(

I moved here from Arizona where there was a sign of HHC LIFE, but people in Chi simply don't book HHC djs for parties.

As for other genres, it's cool. I see a lot of good djs quite frequently, and the 18+ crowd gets to see a lot of internations djs at concerts.

Any ideas where I can get my HappyCore fix being in a land of House?

silver huggablez420: if you build it your scene will come...

I recommend you start your own little parties.
huggablez420 Thanks silver! That not only made me laugh, but really got me thinkin'...

I'll keep you posted on my progress bringing Happy Hardcore to Chicago, BIG!

"Open your eyes, see all the love in me..."
Trancehedd Me, I dont give a **** about the scene in derby cos its all just towny music that these people are going out and buying by the dozen. A few of us still love Hardcore as much as ever so long as it aint too cheezy cos hardcore is what dance is all about at the end of the day along with any other kind of decent techno. Garage is still dominating as well but anyone with any sense dumps on it from a great height (or at least dont buy it) cos its pants but dont even get me started.... Oh yeah, looks like helter skelter is returning soon theyve got a new-look website so fingers Xed. respect

Lets get together and unite cos nothings going to stop us now
Hardcore the hhc scene here in oregon is just starting to take off...we are finally starting to have a few all hhc parties....and we have a few hhc djs that call the nw home...

I like the beats that go BOOM!
milo scene here for hhc isn't really here... it's starting to bud though. a guy from LA came over here and is getting it going slowly. hard house is prodominent right now. but every week we've got raves going on, so it's only a matter of time =) also if n e one is from around cenrtal new york, gimme a buzz
