The VEC bassdrums aren't cutting it for me. They don't have the "Bewm" thing to them like with a lot of the drums I hear from classic happy hardcore (and some newer tunes too).
Anyone know of a good sample pack that has some good bassdrums for happy hardcore?

That's what I mean by "bewm" (it has that sound).
I would use that myself but a clap is on top of it, there's some vinyl distortion, and IMO it's kind of stealing (a bit of a different story though with the amen break).

reminds me of the kcikdrum in popcorn by dj vibes.
maybe u could rip it from there.

I got some 909 samples, but no matter what I do I can't get that sound. This is my best result I could get, and it's WAY too distorted.

The kickdrum pack at dancemidisamples.com is pretty good, though it's more new skool'ish.
you could also try layering.there's endless combinations to be made with a few raw samples.
btw, and excuse my ignorance, what are the VEC Bassdrums?

vec are the vengeance kicks which 90% of hardcore producers use these days......granted they are top quality kicks but do my ****ing tits in as every kik sounds the same its why hardcore kik n bass are shit now imo........they are everywhere ffs
make your own......seriously
its not that hard just put some time and effort in.......read tutorials
personally i dont sample kicks from other tunes......they arnt clean enough and are too processed......get some clean samples and experiment :)

...and to top it off, excessive bouncing and re exporting can lead to your quite low quality sample to sound like its underwater and half low passed.
you wont get anywhere these days unless you use really high quality kick samples.

What's a good tutorial that a idiot like me can read?

im not sure of any specific tutorials but youtube is your friend mate has allsorts of info on there ive learned a few things myself from there :)

I can't find anything specifically there either.
Is there a walkthrough of any kind? Because I've been messing around for about 2 ****ing hours now I can't get a result anywhere near what I want. It always either comes out as way too weak or way too distorted.

its just a process of layering,distorting,eq,filter etc and just play till you get what you want
tbh as good as a tutorial would be you really do need to play yourself as frustrating and time consuming as that is lol.......otherwise you will never get the sound you want.......just a generic distorted 909 kick
put a sample up of what you want and ill see if i can come close in one of my folders......ill send you it over:)
