I didn't elect anyone. I don't vote and even if I did if you know anything about the American Presidential Electorial College system you would know that my vote wouldn't count anyway. I live in Texas, and Bush was going to take this state anyway so my vote would've been thrown away. It's really quite stupid. I have no problem with you dissing Americans, the lot of them are pretty misinformed. I used to have a bumper sticker that said "If voting could change anything it would be illegal."

That's a pretty unfair statement, mate. Not all of us voted for Bush. To be honest though, he was the lesser of two evils. I'd agree that a large number of Americans are misinformed. That doesn't include ALL of us, however

Well Al Gore won the popular vote (ie the vote of the people of this country). That's what I'm saying about the Electoral College. It's pretty much a group of rich, white men that vote for an entire state, so say George Bush gets 51% in Florida and Gore gets 49%. Instead of splitting up the votes fairly they just give George Bush the vote of every person in Florida, even the 49% that didn't vote for him because the rich, white guys that "represent" them (Electoral College) cast all their votes with whoever took the state. Like I said, it's quite stupid and should be abolished. They say it's to help smaller states have more representation, but it's really a bunch of BS.
Anyway, how did politics arise in a picture thread? Just 'cos I don't know all this fancy Australian and British slang doesn't mean I'm a wanker  I'm trying to learn!
