Appliable for belgium and neighbouring european countries:
Hardcore (gabber)
happy hardcore (very rare these dayz)
Trancecore (not the freeform variety, more like a gabber bassline with a gabber melody but with trancy synths)
Darkcore (dark vibed gabber)
terror (fast gabber)
speedcore (faster terror)
Doomcore (more raw darkcore)
noisecore (noise with a bass)
ol'skool (gabber from '89 to '99)
newskool (gabber from '00 to ..., usually the mainstream)
newstyle (slow, bouncy gabber)
frenchcore (from france, totaly different vibe and composition than the rest of the world. Mostly quite industrial trax)
Industrial (Raw but original)
Think I got 'em all now

just wanna point out some things that people get wrong
1. "Artcore" is nothing to do with the hardcore department! it's a type of drum'n'bass that is ****ed up to the max
2. People think gabber is all hate, darkness and more hate but it isn't. "Happy-Gabber" is an official genre name trust me. it's like happyhardcore but the kick is more heavy. Listen to Thunderdome's 8 to 15 (1995? 96?ish)
3. Speedcore is the american term for Terror.
4. Doomcore ISN'T fast, it's painfully slow like 130
5. Hardstyle isn't in the hardcore department but "hard dance"
6. all my opinions are probably faulst coz that's just the way it is LOL no ones right or wrong, a bit of both when it comes to genre, it's competitive world out there with the genre-game and who better to argue it with but the the 12 contries in Europe and USA, Canada, Japanese/Chinese and Ausies! (and the rest!)

I'm not going to touch this... too many countries call certain types of hardcore different things and then you all argue about it... then you argue that hardcore came from this and that country... then the arguement gets really heated and 4-5 pages later....
If I want to talk about a flavour of hardcore, I talk about the label's or talk about a certain DJ's play style or an artist... Other than that.... it's all hardcore!

Too true hey.
I would agree, cos different labels have very different sounds, but its all hardcore.

knightmare you forgot "Hakke-Style" lol
Hakke-style? Hakke is just a dance you do on hardcore (european, not happy). What you mean is probably in there with the ol'skool hardcore, earlyday hardcore made on a steady bassline which was made to "hakkûh" on, the rythm was always the same.
Can you give an example of hakke-style?

And for the fun of it all:
1) "Artcore" in Europe is a sort of '98/'99-style breakbeat infused gabber (mostly on the gangsta audiovisuals label, doesn't exist anymore, changed to enzyme). But if we're gonna drag d 'n b into this, then let's call darkcore drum 'n bass aswell, cuz in some parts of the world darkcore and darkstep are the same shit.
2)the dates are 1995-96. You where correct. But here it classifies as happy hardcore and ol'skool gabber.
3)Americans are always a pain in the ass ;), they've got terrorcore and everything (whatever that shit might be cuz if I heard correctly it has nothing to do with terror). We make the difference terror = fast, speedcore = faster
4)Didn't hear anyone say doomcore is fast, just a raw sound, that's all.
5) Hardstyle is a bastard style, nothing original in those trax. Half of the european hardstyle is simply ripped from old (or new) gabber trax and the other half is straight from the hardhouserecords, the bass is a rediculous thing not worthy of the name and all that dare call hardstyle a form of hardcore need to get a headcheck (no offence to anyone, but it just is nececairry in this case).
