Yeah, stop thinking is a very good idea.

The more you think about what could have happened, the more it will bring you down.

Get your mind off it. And occupy your mind. Go skiing, basejumping. Take up a sport. Meet new friends.

Have the time of your life, don't let yourself take you down...

Keep busy, active and productive. Take some time for youself and please yourself. Meet new people, go out, and see some friends. Instead of thinking about everything that is not going well, take a look at everything that is going well. It's a bit like the half glass of water theory. Look at the glass being half full instead of half empty. It's all psychological really. And yes, I agree that anti depresants are not a solution. That's just a way to ignore the problem. Talk to some people also about what's not going right. Talking to others always helps one understand onself better.
Times can be difficult, but just remember that life is like a pendulum swinging back and forth. You may swing to sadness, but that just means that you will swing back to hapiness.

I used to be really depressed a few years ago, it lasted about a year...
From personal experience not thinking isnt possible.
1/4 of population has a depression-period in some point of their life, so your not alone.

I've read that the going out more thing only works with women, not with men. and it sayd that men should actually think more. Because women think too much their feelings and because of that they get depressed, but men tend to "block" their feelings with doing something, and becouse of that they get depressed... Although thats only one point of view, and cant apply everybody, as people are very diffrent...

Start taking anti-depressants only if you start getting serious insomnia, lose your appetite, or other things that has very harmful effect in your life...

My best advice would be that try to think it as normal thing, dont be alone talk with someone when you feel like it... See your friends as always, avoid getting isolated... and do what junglist_angel sayd

TRUE! im a bit of a deep thinker sometimes and the things that stick in your head are the bad things you think about. People tend to find it harder to remember good things.

If your still depressed light a spliff wiv your best mates, thats what id do.

get it quite often, and the ol' folks ain't got a clue. Nothing ever turns out the way you want 'em to, and I can't handle it no more. Then I get really morbid and pessimistic. Would love some anti-depressants, but that would mean talking to my parents about it and I think they won't buy shit of it, in the meantime I try to find an easy and cheap way to wack myself with not to much of a hassle (for me and others), just in case it really comes that far some day. Hardcore and music then are my only friends, cuz no-one understands how I feel.

i suffered severely with depression about 2 years ago now, ended up with a really ba deating disorder (pls dont think it was cus of being fat cus when i say i had an eating disorder they think it was cus i was starving myself but it actually wasnt it was cus i got very depressed due to personal issues and i stopped eating for so long that when i started to again i cudnt keep anything down and by the end of it was was so used to not keeping anything down i wud make myself sick (ghastly state to be in) and in the end i made myself really ill for about 3 months cus i cudnt fight off infections and by the end of it id kinda climbed out of the little hole id put myself in. its a lot to do with self punishment and PERSONALLY i dont believe in anti-depressants as friends of mine who have been on them say that they felt as thou they still had the problem and they were just coasting over it and they cudnt express any emotions, which as whispering said...

aint all that gud cus ur jus blocking it out. personally i dont think u shud try forgetting about it by going out blah blah - obviously dont stop going out but take a few moments to jus sit back n b calm n think things thru cus u cant get over it til YOU want to. and blocking it out wont make it disapper, just make it jump back n bite u on the arse in the future - cant be good.

sorry for ma LOOOOONNNG post as per, i jus cany shut up.
