I only really collect the old tunes pre 1999! They can't be beaten IMO!!!!

There is only a handful of the new tunes that i like...i dont think there is any new tunes that i think "What a tune!" when i hear it like the old tunes....there are no classics being produced IMO but people will buy them so people will keep producing trancy tunes htinking thats the way to go. :(

Agreed, I am finding I'm getting more turned off by hardcore now that I have EVER been. Still gives me time to explore and enjoy other music genres.

I was just discussing this with me buddy earlier on.

I've been hardcore 4 the last 8 or 9 years now n its sad to say im just not inspired by it any more. Its just the sane old tat comin off the same labels week after week, also there is too many labels tryin to capture the Raverbaby or Evo sound, which = the same old tat

No one would complain that hardcore was getting too trancy if all the tunes werent so uninspiring. Not to worry though it will all change again soon and we can all be happy again

You know, all I hear these days are bitching and whining on how hardcore can't be how it was or something like that. I'm sorry, but if you are really that brought down about this so much that you are close to dying, just make your own tunes. Show us what REAL hardcore should sound like..

Really though, I agree with Virus, but in all honesty, hardcore is NOT getting trancy. It's because that's the most popular style of hardcore that you think that. Yes, artists are making trancier tunes, but if that makes them happy, let them! I know that making a tune thats fun is a lot more inspiring than making a tune of a style you don't really enjoy to do anymore.

When this trancier stuff started coming out I really hated it, missed all the old happy tracks etc.
But some of these new style tracks have started to grow on me now, the way I see it, is that hardcore is maturing and it's at a point now where it doesn't exactly know where it is.
But it's slowly progressing into something bigger and better.
All of these new sounds are what have kept hardcore alive, and kept it going threw its hard times.

Hardcore is not a style of music, Hardcore is a way of life!!

Exactly! I totally agree. You can hear a great difference in production quality with tunes these days. Artists have REALLY improved too. In my opinion, I don't think people should be complaining because there are more styles of hardcore than ever before! Take it easy people!

i was just listening to a slipmat tape from 97 and although it brings back happy memorys and i find it hard to hate it i have to be honest, its litterd with poor tunes and poor mixing.

Finally hardcore finds its place in the market, starts to grow and attract new and old listeners ensuring it can continue and all some people say is 'aint the same no more' - 'too trancy' - 'not enough melody changes' to be honest i like the trancy sounds as much as i like any other hardcore and if it aint wot its cracked up to be why is it controling the seen whilst previous sounds have nearly shut it down?

Lets be honest, the seen, the sound and the djs are all much better now.

oh s*it man, what was i saying?

Yup! Everything/one gets better over time. Yet, there are still those afraid to change or just accept it. They have to realize that things have to change to improve or get better. Otherwise, the scene would be dead right now if it stayed the same all the way through.

Of course, I haven't voiced my opinion about what I like. What got me into DJing was the new direction hardcore was going. I have been a fan of trance since 2000. That's still my favorite era for trance and always will be. When I heard Elysium +, I HAD to have it. Even when it was only on vinyl. So that actually got me into DJing. That and an AWESOME CD that had so many good tracks on it. (Trance Ravers for any of those interested)

Didnt mean it to sound like i was slagging hardcore off, the trancy style is good but the tracks just arent as good as they were/can be. A good tune is a good tune no matter what style it is and at the moment everything sounds a bit too samey for me. Starting to sound like my dad!

hey every1, u hav 2 remember that hardcore is ALWAYS changing. and s what if breeze and styles r becoming 'too' trancey? u hav other djs and record labels to suit every1's taste. if all hardcore was the same and never changed it would be boring. Be happy that hardcore is moving forward.

music's always evolving, you've just gotta find the stuff that you like the most and not worry too much about where the whole scene is going.as long as there's people listening to the more original styles of hardcore then it'll never die!

!where's all the noise all the girls all the boys!
