Is hardcore getting too trancey??
Well, some stuff (imo) has a lot of trance elements (better trance than house, thats what I say) but I wouldn't say its getting too trancy..
Take the NuEnergy Collective for example, is that too trancy for you??

Nah I'd much prefer it harhouse style hardcore more like some of the quosh tunes rather, than trance! but all in all I'd prefer it hardcore, and not any other genre!

Ok so its by no means a spanking new track, but its definately a 'recent', post the HHC crash track.
Blaze! - Till the Day.
That song is a hardcore choon in the style of the older ones. Its not trancey at all. Whoever produced that track (Blaze!)? deserves some r.e.s.p.e.c.t

Wow! only four days ago I posted this topic and already there's so many replys. I know not all hardcore is getting trancy, it's just some tracks sound like they would be more at home on a clubbing's greatest hits compilation.
I know that if it wasn't for people like Sy, sharkey, brisk and a few others doing there own thing in the studio and on the decks I would of lost interest in hardcore a long time ago.

Agreed. Sadly mine came with a divit in it so it goes something like this...
"I put my faith in you (pop)...in everything you do (pop)...and I swear no one else (pop) could love you more..."
You get the point.
The music is all hardcore to me, I try to put everthing in when I'm practicing. It adds flavour.
...do it hardcore...

Hardcore is getting too trancy but this might be for the best. I did a nu-skool/ol-skool show for some neophytes and they absolutely loved the trancier stuff (UFO-Freefall, Scott Brown-Clash of the Titans, Sy n Uknwn- Brainwave{not that trancy}) but they hated the older skool stuff(I mean hated). This may be advantageous to bring in more listeners and for them to explore Hardcore and all of its subgenres.
As Kid Pirhana said...a Hardcore Speed Garage fusion would be awesome.
Also, ive found if ur set gets too "boring" surprise people with some drum and bass. Twist them out(Dylan Remix) is a great song to throw in to a darker trancier set.
Hardcore will never die...lets just pray it never slows down.

Sorry if someone has already made this point but i read the 1st 2 pages n it seemed like everyone was pointing forward similar arguments so i skipped the rest.
Firstly i don't think hardcore is becoming to trancy, there are so many artists prodcuing different styles. From Luna C thru to the RBC crew loads of styles are catered for nowadays. If you listen to a tape pack from 96 there was actaully a lot less variety or so it seemed. u either had techno, jungle or happy hardcore. So in variety terms the scene is much healthier in my opinion.
I recently read a topic on USH concerning lack of variety in bookins at events. I think this is where the true problem lies. The majority of ravers don't have the internet so the only time they get exposed to hardcore is when they go to events or buy tape packs/cd's. If people like Slammin are only gonna book big name trancey style dj's ( Breeze, Styles, Hixxy etc) then alot of ravers aren't being exposed to enough variety in hardcore, thus resulting in topics such as this.
I don't think anyone on this site could admit to not enjoying a good Hixxy, Breeze, Styles, or UFo set, it's just you don't wanna hear the same set 5 times in a nite, or in a tape pack or cd collection. The key in keeping hardcore interesting is in keeping it varied.
Many people will argue that the scene was at it's best in 96 when hhc was at it's peak, but if you look 3 years later when hhc was still being produced in a similar style the scene was dead. This was because hhc wasn't being played in the same room as jungle anymore or gabber or any other style at big events and people got bored quite quickly, if we don't start incorparating a new and/or different variety of styles into the main rooms at big events again soon, people will again get bored with the 'new' trancy style n it the scene runs the risk of becoming the steaming pile of stagnant cow dung many people will argue that it was in 99.
......................................and relax!!!!!!! Rant over!!!!
You will not laugh, You will not cry, You will learn by the numbers!
agreed 100% m8. there isn't enough of the scene being exposed so people will think there's only trancy hardcore that exists. hence why this topic probably got started.
did anyone see the futurevibe lineup before it got cancelled? hixxy, breeze and styles were all on it. sorry guys i love raver baby but i don't wanna hear 3 hours worth of it at a rave. and many other people thought that, which put them off going to it.
both the rave promotors and people responsible for cd releases(ie react etc) need to look into this before it turns into the "pop" of hardcore if it hasn't done so already. even bonkers has turned into a rb/evo album bar sharkey's mix. however, everyone can agree that it works, but it won't for much longer unless they change.
and if i were in charge,i'd bring in some next gen, breakbeat and up and coming talent. none of it is getting showcased enough

its definatley 2 trancey now. No one can argue that the scene was at its best in 96. Although people slate how it sounded in 99, i still prefer that to how it sounds now. Dont get me wrong, i love hardcore n always will, but in my opinon its drifting further n further away from its roots. Maybe its just me living in the past but i cant help but feel that most hardcore now has lost its raw elements that got everyone so interested all those years ago. From i can see (n i may be wrong) many ravers now are new to the scene and there arnt many of the old skoolies from back in the day.
I miss the pianos

well imo ,people say you have to move on ,i dont think that means leave the old style behind ,i must say i get rushes from some old tunes and havent had any from the latest.IMO producers should take that into account and maybe try and give it some more feeling ...(IMHO)
