Why do the moderators frown upon requests for downloads / mp3s? I personally do not approve of them - if people are downloading and not buying, but I also do have to admit that I like to hear a song before I commit to buying it......
If you can't get the radio station (which I can't cos of stupid computer rules at uni) and haven't gone to raves then how are you supposed to hear the stuff??

Good point mate! When i first joined this site i requested and offered my mp3's I do collect them for the simple reason "i wanna hear em before buying i want to get the right mix etc" I do buy all my tunes aswell ...thanks for not banning me right away i didnt know about the mp3 rule.

Why the radio doesnt work? ...and almoust all record stores have clips from tunes, so you can listen before buying.

The radio is not allowed at University (and have no own pc) as it is not considered 'academic' enough  .
As for sound clips in my experience I have found that they are generally of a low standard, and don't give you much of an idea of what the song actually sounds like, but again I haven't treid a huge amount of places, so I can't really say.......

i feel you,
i used to download MP3's all the time, 3 years ago, this was before i wanted to become a HHC DJ, and also, before I found the DJ Shop in Berkeley that sells Happy Hardcore vinyls (not a big selction and to me a bit pricey[$12 for 1 vinyl] but it'il have to do for now) and besides back then, the only Happy Hardcore song i had on CD was "I kiss your Lips" that the ONLY song i had on CD, then when Napster/AG Sattleite i downloaded several Happy Hardcore MP3's, but now all of that is in the past, that was on my old computer, now it's too much of a peice of crap to even turn on, i dont download anymore, my stepmother doesnt want me downlaoding ANTHING on this computer, (it's still a peice of crap anyways) and thus i cant even listen to the raido
to make a long story short, now i have a job, so i buy vinyls on this website's record store, and i will contiue to buy more

when audiogalaxy was alive and kicking i used to chat there on the forums (those were the days when there were more than 5 ppl there!) and if u were jus online for 20 mins ud have tonnes of songs downloaded by other ppl sending, and yeah obv if u hear ppl tokin aboiut a song u wanna hear it 1st (at the time i was about 14 and had no access to music other than a very few tape packs and no money/decks etc) i reckon its not too bad as long as yer not jus bedroom raving with yer pc and not putting ANY money into the scene. these days however, i dont download any music at all, cant be arsed with the bother now AG is gone and i got decks and money and access to decent music! (still not able to purchase off the net yet thou regretfully) but well, as for ppl being fined HOOOOJ amounts for having MP3s on their computers, thats jus sad.

i don't know why record companies use mp3's to their advantage. sell them online coz costs are lower (no shipping,printing,cd's etc) and tunes will never go out of stock

The artist does not get any money from MP3's is the short answer. Hardcore is not a big genre and when your only selling 500 vinyl per release and perhaps 1000 CD's imagine how much 1 download hurts (taking the example that 1 download is 1 CD or vinyl not sold). Most people are just lazy, the internet is everything now now now... so most people want their 2 min cookies in 10 seconds... you can find whatever you want if you look hard enough. I have found every record I wanted to buy with time...
Between the radio on this site and clips at the stores there is more than enough ways to hear a tune before you buy it. I never need more than 1 min to know if I want to buy a tune or not.
If you are unsure about a tune you want to buy post a thread about it asking is it good? If you are looking for other material from that label or artist post about it in here... people will help you.
The worst thing I see is people copying and sharing tunes and go around saying "hardcore will never die!" - shit man... what the **** are you doing?... hardcore will die if you keep copying and sharing... Their arguement is that they are getting the tunes out there for people to hear, but what is the point if all the hardcore artists stop making new tunes cause no one is buying their new releases? You have just killed hardcore...

I have i da past often argued in favour of mp3's in certain circumstances on this site, but before this turns into a mass discussion again about how we shud b allowed to discuss MP3's n the like on this site. I think people shud just come to the conclusion I have: It's Silver's site, he don't want MP3's discussed, if you like the site accept the rules n don't question them!!
I disagree with Silver on alot of the MP3 issue but I think he'd agree that alot of people wud abuse MP3's if they were freely discussed on the site, n rather than using em as a research tool, like alot of us do i'm sure instead wud just abuse em n use em to avoid paying for hardcore.

Would someone explane me how the f***, does getting a tune for free (Not paying anything for it) be any good to anyone in the scene?
I'm really so stupid that i dont see it, why the hell should it be allowed to be discussed on these forums? So that you can encourage other ppl to start downloading music too?
On forums that allow mp3 discussion, people say that I'm stupid and retarded coz i buy my music... Do you seriously want that here?
