Vocal Hardcore is certainly the most uplifting imo, I hope it stays around, I'm getting a live hardcore act together with the vocals very prominant! If you heard the vocalist you'd know why!!

psy trance is pretty big here in adelaide. . . much bigger than UK hardcore
i think hardcore has to move to the bouncier and/or vocal side as the trancey side is really starting to piss some people off.
ANybody wanna donate some cash to the "Turntables for Gav fund?" ~ If you don't, you could be to blame for the demise of happy hardcore!

oh man... Vocal hardcore pissed me off before and I'm sure it would again if the scene moved toward that. Does anyone else remember a time when EVERY SINGLE TUNE was a cheesy sing-a-long type vocal track that sounded exactly like everything else? I for one don't want to experience that again.

Yeah, I personally like Vocal-Hardcore. Anyway this is totally off the subject, but has anyone seen the new AXE commercial? The one with the frog, the old man and then his gravestone? K...the only reason why I'm mentioning this is because I just wanted to know if anyone else likes the music playing;because I love it!!?!

Yeah... I dunno about it taking over the USA. If it does end up being played on MTV a bunch of trend-hopping arseholes will pick it up and claim they were the first, and then before you know it people will start slinging shit at each other, calling those of us who are truly in it for the music posers while they are the ones who are really posing. I see it all the time with Indy rock and whatever else is the cool thing to listen to at the time. The posers end up pissing all the die-hards off, and then they, in turn, end up leaving the scene. I don't want that for hardcore. That's why it's not healthy for this music to go mainstream.

This is what I think:
I think that Happy Hardcore will grow indefinately because judging by the number of Hardcore hits that have samples of other songs (such as popular rap/hip hop & pop songs) this could just be a repeat of what happend when rap artists started to sample songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Another interesting thought:
Hardcore is in general double the speed of hip hop music (170/2=85 BPM). You can bouce to it comforatably. Hardcore itself is also more uplifting than other dance genres because it's faster (no duh).
Formats:
I feel that Hardcore and Happy Hardcore need to stay on 12" vinyl because if record companies start to distribute songs on CD (digitally), people will start to download instead of buying the music in the form that it was meant for. Also, increased money paid for the records will provide an incentive for artists to keep making the music!!!
My last point:
As I think about it more and more, the only way that hardcore will stay good is if it stays somewhere in between mainstream and underground. If you look at Hip Hop and what has happened to it, you'll notice that quality has diminished drastically since the 90's. That's why I feel that it's important that artists keept making aliases for themselves, because it only makes it harder to KEEP TRACK of who's who.

Happy Hardcore, or Hardcore, whatever you wanna call it, seems to me its starting to go downhill a little. I mean, from like 1994-1996 was your typical insane happy melodies with numerous amounts of chipmunk voices and thrashing bpms, a candy kids dream, but then around 1997, more and more chirpy love vocals started to be added with a happy piano synth in the background, very uplifting, then, in 1998, came the sounds of the trance bass lines and not so chipy vocals, but still very bouncey and uplifting. 1999 rolled around and back came the chirpy lovey vocals and stuff, and then in 2000, the trance style really took off with a burst. It wasnt to big to begin with, but around 2002, the music started to sound like old skool again, just with a trancier and non-chirpy vocals (Ex: Set you Free, Get Hype, Power of Dreams, Lost, Till the day)
I loved it that way, with the trance bass lines and crencendolls of the happy melodies and stuff with the vocals that said the same thing over and over. But now its time to move on, if we keep the music the same style for too long, it will get boring and lose its taste. Happy Hardcore should evolve into a more happier/uplifting style and bring back some of the higher pitched vocals and thrashing beat rhythems. I know there are ppl that like the darker side of Happycore, but then...where is the happiness and euphoria if its all got too much love lyrics and dark melodies? It aint "happy" no more, its just tasteless music.
So basically what i am saying is that Happy Hardcore is starting to lose its touch with the dark side it is now. Happy Hardcore is not big here in America and will probobly never make it to public radio or TV (unless its a commercial about drugs). Once the dark side of happycore came around, it just seemed to vanish from the USA. You never saw any raves promoting it unless it was on the west side of the US. Artist need to start making the music a littler more "cheerful" and "euphoric". I know not alot of ppl agree with me on this, but hey, you asked, i replied

Warped Candy Kid,
I respect your opinion that the old cheesy melodies and piano lines of the nineties were cool, but what the hell do you mean when you say it's currently going downhill? The music now is much happier that it was then. Vinyl sales are increasing, which says that the music is becoming MORE popular among a broader audience, and America is SLOWly starting to appreciate the genre little more. This is what's going to happen, in my opinion:
Back in the early 90's, happy hardcore was popular in the U.K., then it gradually spread to the states, and by the late 90's, it died, but then it underwent a revival in the U.K., so what is now popular in the U.K. will slowly start to migrate itself to the states if it continues on this trend. At the same time of this migration, hardcore in the U.K. will undergo yet another transformation.

i was just saying that HHC wasnt too big here in the USA because when it went to the darker side, it just seemed to be here no more. I said i liked this style it is too, but i just mean its like every music, if it dont change over time, it will die out. I am just 16 and i know nothing about UK record sales, i am just going based by what i see and hear in the USA rave scene. I am pretty sure its still pumping over in Europe though because they wouldnt be making a Bonkers 12 if it wasnt. I wish there was actually a Happy Hardcore producer here in the States so it would be easier to get more happycore, but we basically have only Anabolic Frolic in Canada with Moonshine Music. Didnt mean to make anyone mad, but i was just saying my views. I live on the East Coast and there is hardly any HHC raves to even speak of.
