probably you're not practisting enough.. it takes along time before you can hold a mix perfectly.. if you can tell that it's going off, you at least know the basics of what you're trying to do..

i've been spinning hardcore for 8 years.. and there's no trick.. you just gotta learn your tracks, and practise.. it took me over a year to be able to mix well

to get down to 30 seconds then i play the over song and use the crossfader
to mix the two songs thats how i do it and when its mixing i have the problem
it doesent sound right because listen to one of sy mixes and the two songs was playing good how do you do it

learning some basic music theory goes a long way in hardcore and all dance music for that matter, learning 4/4 time and learning your tracks build up and breakdown points help you start and stop tracks where you want them. it isn't a time based thing necessarily, some mixes only go 30 seconds, while other last 2

spend some time and develope your own style, best way to learn is to record yourself then listen back and see what you like/don't like then sort out how to change it

best way to lean is just going and playing with it and learning what it does that way. there are a lot of threads in the forum regarding getting started and tips and advice, just spend a bit of time doing some reading off the site.

Yeah, judging by my (lack off) progress, its all about know the choonage (in 16 bars, this will breakdown/buildup, etc....)

Even listen to the choons with out mixing them so you can study the make up of the choon.

I just started mixing a few weeks ago but on vinyl and it really is all about practice. look at some of the tutorials to get the basic idea and then put the hours in, recording yourself every now and then to see what you're doing right and what needs improving. eventually you'll knw the tunes and everything will start to fall into place, good luck!

Yea mate watch the videos on www.quoshrecords.com (if they're working again now) they're really handy for beginners and definately tape your mixes. It'll give you a much better idea of what your doing right and wrong. Learn your tunes as well! mark on the cases how many bars the intro's and outro's are if your having problems remembering.

Lay your cue point either at the very first sound in the tune or at 4 beat intervals there after, don't cut up phrases as it will throw the mix off. I can't tell by your posts whether you can beat match yet. This is obviously vital as unless the 2 tunes you mix are at the same speed you'll never be able to layer them and even cuts won't sound right.

Try mixing with the upfaders (leaving the cross fader in the middle) Some people find this way easier. Don't worry about the EQ'ing at the moment, all that stuff can come later....

But also remeber a dj is only as good as the records he plays!

i was thinking of getting the full equipment. but from what ive read it sounds a bit dull i thought it was about fading in differnet tunes at exactly the right time u want, and inserting samples and cutting of base and wotever.
but is all you can do is mix two tunes?

You could become a super beat juggling mad scratch turntablist if you wanted to! mixings what you want it to be...

It can be boring and its definately frustrating. Especially when your 50 minutes into a taped mix and you clang it big time. Makes me want to bung the bastards out of a window. But listening to a mix YOU did with all the tunes YOU love in it is immensely satisfying (its the reason I got mine)

Also I imagine that playing out to a crowd is one of the best feeling in the world (especially if they're loving it!). I hope one day i'll get the chance to di it, but i've miles to go before I think about doing that...
