As of late ive been noticing that when i mix an old track in to a newer one the newer tracks seem to be a slower BPM. I like my hrdcore fast and always have my pitch at about +6/8. Is it just me that thinks tunes are gettin too slow?

I'd definately agree with you on this one.... in particular, UK Hardcore (such as RB, EP etc).
Freeform seems to be getting faster though... with labels like Digital Beatz and electronic putting out some really nicely paced stuff.
I've got a solution to the problem of slow choons now anyway.... I got a pair of TTX1's :D
*starts mix off at +12%*

I think if you compare most of todays tunes to the old ones youl find the newer stuff is faster. Some of the Breeze & Styles stuff and Dougal stuff has been alittle slowish imo but then i ent too fussed as + 8 makes them sound just fine.
Maybe it just seems like the trancey tunes are slower

I think Hixxy said (not too long ago) that he plays most of his sets at just above the average speed of a hard trance set!
That is definately too slow for hardcore!
But would the trancier stuff weird if it was faster?

hixxy plays his sets at around 170 bpm +
Thats normal for hardcore.
And Hard trance is upto around 160 bpm at events like slammin so slightly more would i gues be around 170 wouldnt it

personally, i really don't like how some producers are writing slower music. most of the time i find myself timestretching some hardcore tracks to add a few bpm's in order to stay in my bpm range.

some are too slow, some are a bit too fast. 170-180 is good for me.

i love the Slammin Vinyl sets... The speed of them are wicked! the New Years Eve Festival SV made Electric & Be Cool sound better, and matched up with Kevn Energy's Freeform set... Made DJ Topgroove's Trance set sound da ballz man! Trance speeded up is loads better than regular Trance!!!

The hazzard country,EP & Raverbaby record'sI have are mostly slowerer than the other stuff i play....Redpill Is nice and fast same with Hardcore Bashment...There again Its all down to the sounds in their track the the BPM that counts...I think those 3 labels i mentioned...And others need to notch up a bit..Most of that stuff is being BPM'd at about 169?

I don't like it when things are fast for the sake of it (i feel that gabba is sometimes) but i don't like it when stuff is slow just so it can fit in with more commercial tastes, after all it's not your usual casual music, it's hardcore.
Hardcore still makes trance (often thought of as fast) sound pathetically slow, which is fast enough for me.

I totally agree sometimes I think happy hardcore has gotten a bit slow, but I think it's just certain songs. 170 works for me also.

I agree. I notice a lot of times Essential Platinum + and Raver Baby are really slow. Luckily I have the M5Gs so I can go up to +12! I'm really happy Scott Brown's stuff is perfect. I can go up to +6 with it being fine with my mixing. Also, Sy & Unknowns stuff has been perfect for me as well!
