just get involved. get some money together and start researching a budget ect. figure venue costs and what they will provide and what they will need to. DJ budget, promotion budget, and what you can set tickets at to bring people in and be able to break even. try talking to local promoters to see how things happen, first hand experience is the best way to do it.

do what we do

just do it

Hire a club, book dj's, do flyers n posters then give out flyers put up posters
have a good time get the people that come to spread the word
Start small dont aim too big cos it will fail, ive seen ppl lose thousands by putting on a wicked line up
and persist if it doesnt work at first as it will pay off eventually

also mabye finding someone already promoting and helping them out to get a feel for it all would be good. you could then go solo when you've got some experience and some contacts in the business.

depends who you're booking for djs. usaully there are a couple begging for a booking so they are free, locals are 50-100, headliners usally a couple hundred to thousands depending who you're bringing in. venues range from free to thousands, though most small/medium venues are a couple k or less. fliers are a few hundred (depends on how many, what type, detail, ect). you'll end up putting more of your time in than anything else.

well to in answer to the "how $$$$" question,
to put on this partyhttp://www.happyhardcore.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12811 at this venue http://www.mayhem.net.au/forum/showthread.php?t=22 cost to quote the promoter "3 left testicals and i bet the right one on the melbourne cup"(a huge horse race), but start small or to the size that your budget can afford then if u get a reputation for doing things right and the way people want them and not being too pig headed to cop some critisim from people then u will get bigger maybe one day to the size of hulla, slammin or mayhem. Good luck with it and n a final note, work with other promoters cus if u work against each other it will result in the sceene dieing...trust me it was what happened here for a bit:(

There's this site I visited today for NYC Clubs. And on the site there was this section called "Promoters" Here's what it read:

Become a Promoter!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interested in becoming a promoter?

Two points to consider:
Promoting can be very difficult at times, and requires real effort.
Successful promoters make good money, and party like everyone else wishes they could.
Now that that's out of the way, do you have what it takes?
We're willing to help you find out. Promoters for Velvet list events are taken care of well, and can rest assured that they're being watched after by a legitimate and reputable organization. We want you to be successful, because it makes us successful.

The amount of money you can make varies per party, and based on what you can produce, but if you're serious about getting into the world of promoting, you've come to the right place, and we'll help you along the way.
