Flip and Fill ruin the tracks because they are commercial. People will hear them, think they suck ass (which they do) and then never take any interest in hearing the originals. I got about 4 of my close mates into hardcore, simply by playing them the original Shooting Star.
Plus I have a deep-rooted hatred of people making money off other people's work. Flip and fill don't do much to these tracks but so few people in the commercial dance market will know the originals they will think they made them. Sure Bang might get some money, but they don't get the recognition or respect they deserve. It's no better than Westlife ruining Mandy or Blue butchering Signed sealed delivered (albeit with Stevie wonder and Angie stone desperately trying to save it)

I don't really agree with that. "you're shining" is being released on AATW in a month or so and that's going to have the original hardcore mixes and a Hixxy mix included on it, so hardcore's going to benefit hugely from this release. it's already at number 3 in the commercial dance charts on promo's so when it's fully released the hardcore version is going to get a lot more coverage than it ever would have on its own release, along with the royalties being paid to the original artist being higher. also, don't forget that a lot of the tunes that flip and fill are remixing and releasing were not hardcore tunes originally and so claiming that they're "stealing" from the hardcore scene by using them is crazy.

I don't know why everyone gets so protective over this situation. who cares if the people listening to the remix don't know who originally did it, you cant make everyone like hardcore and you're not taking away from hardcore when you change the music to suite these people, the originals are still there for you to listen to! at the end of the day it's bringing in more money to the scene, getting hardcore B sides out into the shops and to the public and giving the people that want it much easier access to hardcore music.

if you couldn't be bothered to read my whole rant then skip to this ...... it's all good, so stop winging

I can see your point and putting hardcore on the B-Sides is a good thing but Flip and Fill don't do this. I disagree with your point about taking it away from the hardcore versions though. As I said, people I played hardcore tunes to became fans but if I hadn't introduced them to it they would have heard these dancey versions and been put off.

Plus, there is also the fact that Flip and Fill's tunes are mostly uninteresting tosh anyway, whether they are remixed hardcore tunes or not

exactly.. they'll display a sentance where the f word would be used, but put fcuk instead; like "i want you to fcuk me"

stupid.

if i wanted a shirt with a swear word on it, i'd just go and buy one.

I wish React would produce some better Bonkers Shirts. The one's on the Bonkers site aren't something I'd wear.

Ill have to disagree with you here hardcore is supposed to be underground and thats how it should stay i dont want it to be commercial it makes me sad when i see bonkers and other hardcore cds advertised on the tv. The new remixes of classic hardcore tunes are giving hardcore a bad name and they just sound cheap.

that's a very selfish view. hardcore artists are only going to produce music on very little return for so long and the more "underground" the scene is the less events get put on, less people buy releases and so there's less money for future releases. maybe you want hardcore to be as "underground" as it was a few years ago ........ damn near 6ft underground if you ask me.

just enjoy the fact that it's growing, getting more ravers, coverage, events and artists as the word gets round

It may have been more underground but the tunes were a lot better than what they are now. It just isnt hardcore. Id rather be playin my set to a small room of true hardcore ravers than a large room full of commercial clubbers who only know tunes like pretty green eyes and think it is ace. I listen to hardcore techno mostly and i know you wont hear a gabber tune in the charts and you wont find many cmmercial clubbers at north (RIP).

I don't see the problem with the covers to be honest, it has been stated many times in many different topics-"if you don't like it, don't listen to it" and it really is as simple as that.

i don't mind the remakes of all the old classic tunes, it's about the closest u'll get 2 hardcore in a club where I'm from. Flip N Fill r cheezy tho, i'll agree with that!
