hey I guess im writing this cause im kinda disheartened. It seems as I have been noticing for the last year and a half that most freeform is taking a turn for the worse and straying farther from the place I loved.I see the same exact sounds on every record just used differently.I find that freeform has run out of new tricks to use and now its become the same old stuff over and over again.I would like to someday see it return to the place where the same kickdrums and basslines are not used repeatingly in the same songs.I guess that this is more of an opionion and I am kinda questioning you all why I should stay or if you feel the same about this.
I feel the new directions im movin in are more towards hard techno.Does anyone else like hard techno?

i find techno far to repetative, i have a short musical attention span..
and yes, 97 freeform is where it is (was) at.

I totally agree with you, hy5. I seem to be buying far less freeform these days only because they don't interest me. The old freeform is my favorite music of all time. Everyone who knows me knows that.
The new Impact tune, Funky Technician is great! There are few freeform that do it for me, and that is one! It's so great!

What we need is a few dj's to return to the original freeform and reinspire people. Then alot more will be done.
As for hard techno.
It's ok but a little too repetative. Far better off trying to relight your love for freeform.

my main problem with freeform lies within the bassline and kcikdrum.I liked the hardcore way back in 94 to 97 where it didn't use that same stupid kickdrum and bassline.I think that freeform stole that kick from happy hardcore and I would like to see em give it back.I don't see my love for commercial freeform ever returning unless it branches out and gets more diverse. If this happens I will gladly enjoy freeform again. If anyone here produces freeform and has tunes you feel are so entirely different within these respects (maybe sound a bit more like old school hardcore instead) I will give them a go but I can honestly say im never buying a bonkers cd ever again.(unless things change)
Rave music was designed to trip you out not give you an wash of emotion.Too much melody and perfection these days and not enough trip.I would rather the producer make the whole tune trippy and have it not be perfect than be minimal as to trippy stuff and have flawless production.I rate my music on effort more than production quality and I wish others would do the same.

All Hardcore is Freeform.
If your on about a particualar sound then its getting bigger and better than EVER.
Bonkers has some phat utnes coming out by mr sharkz and co and is looking extremly good for future refrence.
The yorkshire sound is proving to be popular now and ya have to love the dirtyness :).
The Nu energy sound is realy souning wicked with AMS K Complex and the MR Energy putting out wicked stuff.
Relentless has some good banging releases coming out not forgetting duncan oathams' ready? tune.
The camels are doing extremely well and that has some acidy induced free form at the mo with some down right filth as well.
The finnish artists are coming through with some proper psychedelic stuff at the moment to add even more variety to the "sound"
Blizzard Boys tracks are ripping it up on with aint no stopping this and other TUNES on blizzard tracks.
Electronic records have some promosing artists signed to ther labels and are realy doing the rounds.
Imo ya should be looking harder innit
Theres so much stuff out there waht ever ya prefferd style

i wsnyt really into freeform much, and i dont kow how it sounded "back in the day" but it seems like the freeform is turning into trancecore...like the CLSM released, i consider that freeform. TO me most freeform sounds the same, or just not very special. Every once in a while i run into a cool freeformy track, and i buy it. The few freeformsongs sound great surrounded by a bunch of other style songs, specialy vocal/happy songs :)

Thats how I tend to play em, I like freeform sets when i'm out raving, normally cos of the speed and general hardness of em but I tend to get a little bored mixing one non vocal tune into another. But i'd have to say that freeform is the tops and there is imo more variation in freeform than vocal hardcore at the moment.
I wish there was a little more melody in some freeform tracks today though. Not just in the breakdowns but laid over the meat of the tune just like the old days. Was listening to sharkeys Bonkers 3 mix today and that for me is the pinnicle of freeform.
