to learn how record into your computer you post this question in the gear talk forum. :)
It would help if you gave a little more info too, like what kind of computer you have, and what software you have. :)

How to record a mix.
Step one. Plug mixer into "line in" on puter.
Step two. Pick up some free software to record with (I use goldwave).
Step three. Record.
Or
Hook your tables up to your stereo and record with the tape deck.
I can be more specific if you tell me what you are using. PM me if needed.

I just bought a pair of Numark TT-100's on ebay for 200$ with ship. Upset about the 50 bucks ship, but I got stanton cartridges (they didnt specify model so they are probably the 500 series) and numark slipmats in this package. But now I have no $$$ for records! so I gots to scrape together some $$$ to get some choons.

decks are decks. as long as they aren't falling apart then you'll do fine. my biggest suggestion is get a cheapo set of decks and a cheap mixer but sturdy enough that the faders aren't gonna break off after a few mixes.
spend more moeny on the vinyl not ur decks. get loads and loads of vinyl but get them in groups. learn those tunes a bit then ghet another lot, about 30 at first and get used to mixing them all and stuff.
the decks u can sell off and replace. whats the point having amazing decks and nothing to mix when u can have shit decks and play the night away?

tell me about it
when i started out i bought the records my favourite dj's had
and learned to mix them just as they did
i got the basics from that
i was friends wiht the owners of the hardcore record store here in toronto
so they helped me out a lot
as for record selection
i also talked to other dj's and got little lessons from them
but what helped the most once i got the basics was watching dj's at shows
and recording my stuff
heres some advice:
1) spin what makes you happy. I tried to spin Funky house because I was told by a bunch of my good friends who are house DJ's that hardcore is dead. Took a DnB Dj to straighten me out!
2) dont think youll get good overnight. There are Dj's out there who get shows in 6 months ( i think i was 4 actually... im at my 6 month mark now) but the majority are WAY longer than that... Patience.
Good luck aswell!

heres more advice that did a lot for me
don't get caught up in the song
listen for the beat, not the shit ontop
that comes later
try not dancing when you mix
took me a while to get!

ARRGGGHHHHH!!!!!! finally I'm back on the boards! Had an argument with the folks and next day no puter. Never piss ya parents off when theres broadband and decent computer at stake.
But helloooooooo agen to you all. I got 2x tech 1210 and vestax pcv275, technics 1210 headfones for my set up. Just thought I might brag. But I still suck at beat matching, mixing Mr Brown's stuff is fun coz it has roughly the same beat. *sigh* only 2 years to go.
Ma back herts!
When I grow up I wana be a D JJJJJJJJJJJJJ!

alright lad ... ive been mixing just over 2 years now .. got my first gig after about 5-6 months .. but i only got it cos i was never off my decks .. ignored computer games and tv and just focused on my mixing .. and it paid offf. I started out with kamBDX300's and KMX100 2channel mixer ... all in all cost me about 200quid ... and only recently changed over to 1210's. People say that ur best learning on crap decks ... and i agree ... it's made it alot easier for me mixing ... and also helps you discover what your doing wrong .. plus belt drives keep ya on your toes with mixing cos ya have to constantly tweak the pitch or spindle .. so wen ya move onto the high range decks.. its a class feeling to just beat match it and stand back and not have to touch the decks :)
keep at it kid ... its a great hobby (altho its always been an obsession to me :D)
also i seen up there someone said play what ya like ... so many people i have seen changing there style to try and get gigs .. its ******** .. if your not happy playing certain music then dont play it!
rant over :)

I've had decks about a year now and must admit i've still a lot to learn before feeling confident enough to play out to crowds, though i've made mates a couple tapes that sounded not too bad jus feel need to polish up a few things. It is the best hobby ever though i love record collecting and have to admit i've spent an obscene amount on all kindsa u.k, makina, happy style, breakbeat, edm trance basically whatever takes my fancy. Sometimes i think if i stuck to learnin with just a few vinyls i'd learn things quicker but the fun of it to me is to just play whatever i like when i feel like it, and that keeps my interst going. I think aswell as practice it helps to have someone whos already mastered the decks help you out and i've lacked a bit in this, i find whenever my mate ryan comes to visit me i learn a few little things that really help but as he's in glasgow and i'm in south east england doesnt happen very often. Also some of the dvd's and books you can buy are really helpful with the basics but i think the fine tuning has to be down to effort.
Venga familia!!!
