If we see the same situ as Bonkers 12, I will be VERY dissapointed.
Although I recognise the popularity of the RB DJs, I think another TWO CDs practically exclusively of RB material, at this point, will likely spell the end of the scene. Bonkers should NOT be an RB / Evo album, it is ( in my mind ) supposed to at least try to represent the scene at the time. Everyone babbles about Bonkers being "commercial".. if that is true.. and we keep playing the same tunes by the same limited sample of artists.... what does that imply about the scene? Limited and predictable.. is that REALLY the view people want to bandy about w/ reckless abandon?
We have "Hardwired". We have "HTID 2". We don't need a follow up album for both just a few months later.
That is no exaggeration, if we don't see SOME kind of support for the "Nu Breed" then it IS all going to go horribly, horribly, horribly wrong.
I see too many people doing too many good things to go totally unrecognised. On one hand I'm wildly optimistic about the future of the scene, on the other I seriously worry about what is going to happen if people play it safe and only ever do what seems easiest, most profitable and "commercially appealling". It WILL end badly. Ultimately the best act of self interest would be to relinquish something with a view to having a stronger, more diverse and interesting scene in the long term.

If the Bonkers CDs do represent the commercial side of Hardcore I cannot see its record companies commercially making money from them if they are mixed soley by artists and DJs virtually unheard of to the general public. DJ Peggy

I think they shud put dougal and gammer on the 4th cd seeing dougal aint been on bonkers since 5 and they cant get rid of hixxy or sharkey, scott brown is debatable.

"if they are mixed soley by artists and DJs virtually unheard of to the general public"
it's astonishing that anyone could actually quote that entire rant without fathoming any of it on any level.
Did I say have an up and coming DJ, or relative unknown, do it? Did I say fill all 4 CDs w/ tracks that no-one knows by people no-one has heard of?
OR did I say that keeping the same formula as 12, combined w/ not supporting any up and coming talent at all, is potentially destructive?
*sighs*

Agree with everything that CDJay has said. I for one did enjoy the last Bonkers, but if im being honest i was disappointed when i heard that B&S were gonna be on there. Not because i dont like them, but it was just another cd virtually full of RB material. If the scene is going to progress,it needs to give the up and commings more oppertunity's to let people know what there doing. Hence why it is virtually essential to have Jon Sharkz on there. As he gives the less known labels, and artists the credit they deserve,by representing them on a Bonkers album. Im affraid artists such as Oli G,Devastate,Stormtrooper,Clsm,Kev Energy,Impact,Marc Smith etc...etc.. would not feature on a Bonkers album if it wasn't for Sharkz. Even if the 4th cd was not by an up & coming dj,then why cant it be mixed from say Sy & Unknown,Brisk,Seduction etc..etc... Like CDJay, im optamistic on one hand but concerned on the other. If the same dj's,and tunes keep getting played to a wide audience, then im affraid were left with a similar situation to 98/99. Surley the scene has learned from it's previous downfall.

Makina is good but I dont think its worth a whole cd on bonkers.

I definately agree with the idea of a Dougal and Gammer disk or even a Sy and Unknown disk although the B&S mix on 12 woz pretty decent IMO.
