For all you producers out there that sample. This is going to bring alot of work to a stand still.

heres a better article on the same thing - this one gives FAR more information

http://www.lacitybeat.com/article.php?id=1302&IssueNum=71

plus - wouldnt this only effect areas in the USA that fall under the jurisdiction of the 6th court?

at the end of the day - if this thing past world wide, its not that hard to make a song without using samples. making them yourself is creative and original.
plus if this even went world wide its not as if it would stop anything - look at what hardcore got away with...gets a away with.

I don't think this makes much difference because the copyright owners still have to press charges it's not like the RIAA or the FBI are going to track down producers or anything.

The article makes it sound like it has only just been made law that you can't sample even a snippet of a tune...... maybe the US law is different, buthere in the UK it is illegal to even sample a snippet of another tune.......but as Silver rightly states, its up to the copyright holders to press charges..... some will, some won't.... its not going to change much.
