i may be being naive, but i always thought that mc-ing was about rapping at a high rate of words a minute, not just talkin over a song like some do, coz anyone can talk over a song. i got 'babylon time' by spinback wiv mc ruff (it says rip on the box, is he dead?) and he actually did proper mc-ing over it and it sounded ace! he wasnt just talkin over the top and spoilin it

Yes I hate when they just talk over a set.. it ruins it. When they actually work with the music it can work.
I find though that the vast majority of MCs are crap. There are some that just can really work with the music and enhance things but most don't achieve such a state.
One of the reasons I liked some old skool breakbeat though was that they basically threw in words at just the right moment to give a sorta kick to the music.
For most hardcore its different though. I'm trying to hear and feel the music.. and if they are shouting crap on top of it I lose the.. connection to the music. Its kinda like trying to have a phone convo infront of an aeroplane taking off - such a distraction makes it really that impossible.
Now ones that do it as if its almost extra lyrics.. they can work. Most are just people who talk too much though :/

i didnt mind listening to storm but he to has gone down hill ... most of the time ... mc's have changed along with the music ... unfortunatly the vast majority r shit!

the mc's i like generally are all ragga ... 99% of MC's ruin the music imo
