I see no reason for me to have to take this course...I could learn so much more from just sitting at home typing online. This class (I am in right now) is based around telling you how to type. Who does not know how to type? We just got done doing some drills relating to how to type a list. Now can anyone honestly tell me they do not know how to make a list?
Anyone els in here ever take a typing class and find it as pointless as I do?
Actully some people will prolly agree when I type it looks like I need typing class. :P

That sucks! I've never had a typing class as such, but I remember having to have IT classes when I was younger...... it taught me how to switch on a computer, and even shut it down! The advanced classes showed us how to write a word document..... brain boggling stuff I can tell you!

The best part of my computer class was finding out how to send messages to eachother from other computers. Our teacher had no clue so we would often trade answers to questions or just type messages to eachother talkin shit... great times. I do agree though that after a certain point that taking a class if you already know HOW to type is pretty redundant.

I took a typing class when I was in jr. high, helped out with my speed and accuracy immensely...was always envious of the Japanese exchange student in that class, damn kid could type like 90 words a minute =P

I hated my typing class in 9th grade.. I had it first thing in the morning.. and we used old ghetto ass typewriters, because my school district was packed full of cheap bastards who refused to update to a decent computer system...
Listening to a class of 40+ bangin on keyboards early in the am was not my idea of a happy enviornment, so I *accidently* missed that class a lot..but I can type now, and it definitely makes writing last minute papers at 4am a much smoother process..and a hell of a lot quicker!

Why do you need to take a class in Lame typing, wouldn't regular typing be more useful?

A typing class is worth it dude!!! Before I took that class, I couldn't type sh*t. Now I can type 60 words a minute!!!

are you getting a certificate for it? if you are then its not at all pointless, if your ever going for a job that requires a computer, that will be one of the things (touchtyping) they look for. plus theres a differnce between typeing, and typing properly (touch typing), which is to do with where you place your fingers at the start n stuff. so i would say if your going to get a certificate at the end of it, its well worth it.

Yeah I took typing... I got a B in it only because I suck at spelling.... we used real typewriters as well... lame :)

that sucks...
i was lucky... in school i was more advanced than my teacher so got "allowed" to skip the lesson..
and got an A.
still certain programs can help...
i didnt need help to type but my speed improved.

I had to do a few typing classes as part of the ECDL course very boring! I could already type before i took the classes so i was just seating there doing nothing for the classes.
