hello all, I'm from the us and was interested in spinning some makina (spanish hardcore). I am having a somewhat rough time finding it though (plus I don't speaky espanol, so I suck). any help would be apreciated. what I have is somewhat dated. I'm looking for more recent releases and where I can get them. I know it's not a very popular or "loved" subgenre of hardcore but I dig the bounciness, what can I say? anyways, help me plz.

Try www.vinilmusic.com, www.factoriasonora.co.uk, www.divisiondance.com and www.makina.co.uk should be enough to get you started. Dont care what others think anyhow mate, fair enough some makina's cheesy enough to make you sick but theres a lotta great stuff to be found aswell. For quality makina mixes check out the 3 deck sessions on www.sbthq.net.
Venga familia!!!

Gotta love the spanish though steve mate cos 3 deck bcn sessions sound so goddam innovative. It's the only way i've heard that you can mash up so many diff sides of hardcore i.e bouncy, cheesy, trancey, acid synths and gabba all in the one set without stopping and nothing sounding out of place. Also uk hardcore sounds so much better with a good base behind it wish i had more sets with this style of mixin.
The style of makina thats the reason people hate it is the old cheesy spanish/italo popular at places like the new monkey and with kids mashed with cider in your local park goin b2b ace n tazo stylee lol. I like a good few of the classics but you need to look through them as some is total ultracheese and as a dj you only want the best.
I hate the way a lot of ravers over here are so closedminded to makina it's as if they dont realise spain just like the uk has a varied scene with diff labels, and some of the makinas hard as f**k. If i listened to 2 old happy hardcore songs from uk then decided cos i didnt like them the whole scene is rubbish and never tried listening to evo, next gen, quosh etc's new stuff i'd be foolish and thats exactly what most people are like with makina, but **** it there loss. The amount of times i've heard supposedly educated ravers say stuff like makinas all "cheesy vocals and kazoo synths" which makes me laugh cos obviously aint listened to spanish since about 99 and there was a lot more than just that in old days aswell.
The really sad thing imo is that the one makina song i've seen sell well over here was "Torn" which is quite possibly the shittest excuse for spanish bounce released in years, and so many genuine anthems have been unknown practically outside the north east.
Anyway if anyone requires more info or mixes etc add me to msn [email protected] and i'l try point you in the right direction.

wow, what a great and unexpected response! I'm staying on this messageboard forever.
thank you all for your help! I'm from chicago, and you can't even mention makina (to the kids who know what it is) without "ewww" and "wtf that music is shit" responses. I only know ONE other person that I've talked to in the us that likes it. I don't see what's not to love, but different strokes for different folks I guess.
again thank you all, any more help would be appreciated. I'd like to show chicago/us what good makina is about, even if I jave to cram it down their throats. <3

bump!
hello again, so since I made this thred I took your guys' advice and did some reasearch, a lot of listening, and a lot of spending. :D I think I got some great tunes here. when I make my next uk hardcore mix I'll also make a makina mix to go along with it, adequately titled "no hablo espanol."
thanks for all of your help! those sites were very helpful, especially factoria, I just got an order from them today and they threw in a makina cd that I've been rocking to for the last few hours.
just a few more questions before I get started on making a mix-
- how would I explain what makina is to someone who has no idea what it is? besides just saying "it's spanish hardcore." I'm sure it's a bit more in depth than that.
-what are some really popular tunes out right now? that you would recommend? I pretty much will have one opportunity to make ravers over here give makina a chance, I don't want to mess it up.
any more help or advise would be greatly appreciated. I'll take anything I can get!
thanks again!

I need some help. I am amazed by the tunes of Pont Aeri, but they rarely appear on spanish makina compilations. Do you maybe know of a somekindof bestof Pont Aeri which doesn't contain gabba tracks? I would see tracks like Sweet revenge, Flying free on it... Is there an existing compilation like that? And if so... then where can I buy it?

Hi! I'm from Spain and I love makina.
If you need help I'm your man .
My english is not very well but if you have any questions I'll try to help.
First advice:
Forget the "new makina" stuff (it's really bad and simple), the good (and the real makina) die in year 2000, search tunes from 1990 since 2000.

I recommend you the compilations of Pont Aeri:
The best of Pont Aeri (1998)
Pont Aeri: The great family
Pont Aeri: The trilogy
Rave Master vol.2 live at Pont Aeri
Rave Master vol.3 live at Pont Aeri
Others:
Xque Compilation 98
Xque Compilation 99
Xque Compilation 2000
Scottish Clan sessions
Central rock Dance Project
Pastis & Buenri: The new project
It's a good beginning with this
