http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A26623-2004Dec1.html quote from that article ->
quote: Many American youngsters participating in federally funded abstinence-only programs have been taught over the past three years that abortion can lead to sterility and suicide, that half the gay male teenagers in the United States have tested positive for the AIDS virus, and that touching a person's genitals "can result in pregnancy," a congressional staff analysis has found.
Whats your thoughts about this?

i believe that abstinence is the only reliable protection against unwanted pregnancies and stds.
even tho i do believe this, i'm not ignorant. teenagers will have sex, so i'm all about sex education. they should at least know what they're doing, and know the consequences.
Oh man, I hope I didn't brain my damage...

alright temmu if i get any spam im forwardin it to you:p
I STILL had to register and i did try washington Post first THEN searching.
Anyways....Its kinda scary knowing these kids are gettin mislead. The idea is NOT to scare a kid into thinkin they can contract anything/everything. You teach em the right way and its up to the KIDS to decide wether or not they wanna live a healthy safe life. Shame that 170 (i forgot) million/billion dollars are spent on education to misinform our youth.

I think misleading anybody is wrong..... without getting too political it seems to be the way of certain larger governement organisations these days over alot of subjects. What really upsets me about this is that a few decades back alot of good men died trying to prevent a large political organisation spreading their propaganda across the world (amongst other reasons obviously before anybody flames me), yet here we are in the 21st Century and people are being fed lies by "the good guys"....... where does it end, and what can we believe?
Yes, I believe that something needs to be done about the spread of STDs and teenage pregnancies, but this is the wrong way to go about it. Not all kids are stupid.
My idea is to give them the (true) facts, then test them on them. If they fail then cumpulsary sterilisationis the answer
Seriously though, the true facts are scary enough!
