Noooo! That's Chav-a-mundo. Don't do it! If you do I'll post a pic of it on www.barryboys.com so people can teach you the errors of your tastes! 
Much better to spend more money on a proper car in the first place, then spend money as if comes in doing it up. (Don't buy a nothing special car and try and make it look special in one hit cos it will never be and you'll get bored of it quickly too). If it's a progressive project it's much more fun.
I must've spend nearly £10K on my car since I bought it 16 months ago. Sadly most of that is keeping the fukker on the road! Italian build quality is never that great, but I knew that before getting it...
That's just IMO of course.

I haven't really got any pics to hand so I'll play games with clues here. How well do you know your cars? 
Here's some -
Still the fastest front wheel drive production car in the world.
Designed and hand-build by PininFarina (Ferrari).
Powered by a 5 cylinder in-line intercooled turbo
It'll currently do a standing quarter faster than say... a Chevvy Corvette, Lotus Esprit Turbo HC, Porker 928GTS, 350Z, Maserati Ghibli, '98 Scooby turbo, Honda NSX, '94 Aston Martin DB7, Holden GTS, Audi S4, Jag XK8 etc. just a selection of course 
Not that I'm proud of my choice of car or anything! lol
I've only spent about a £1500 on mods - full decat 4in zorst, air filter, chip, boost valve, wheels, shiney bits etc. The rest is all maintenance!
