I'm heading off to Tokyo at the start of February for a work thing, and wanted to know if anyone had the name of a few clubs or DJ's I could check out while I'm there.
I'll have about a week to kill, 8th - 19th, so if there's any events happening I'd like to check them out, Ta

Not much to check out I'm afraid, everything has died off since the police are shutting down clubs at 1am...
Here's the low down:
It's illegal to dance to a DJ playing music between the hours of 1am - 5am...
so the only places open after 1am are clubs paying the marfia protection money...
so the only place to do an event is in a club...
No one drives in Tokyo so the clubs have to be near a train station...
The trains also stop from midnight - 5am.
You have to be 20 to get into a club...
Therefore clubs only want to put on events that bring alot of people because of they money they have to pay to the Yakuza...
There are events here and there, check out the events section of the site, there are events now and then...
I don't know where I will be around that time but your more than welcome to hit me up on email [email protected]

The Japanese government always make stupid laws up and there are a ton of double standards.

Yeah there are so many old people in Japan from the baby boom (after the war) so there are more old people in Japan that young people ... so the vote and laws always favour old people.

Hopefully Silver sees this post so he can give you better advice, seeing as how he's lived in Japan for years now.

I'm planning a trip to Japan/Tokyo within the next 2 years.
I feel it's just somewhere I have to checkout!
Any suggestions of places to check Silver? I'd like to experience the new Japan but would be great to get a bit of the history aswell, not sure if this would be possible if I spend all my time in Tokyo.
I really want to check out the Studio Ghibli Museum & some sort of computer game convention.
