Some say it's going up, some say it's going down.... let's strike a balance and say that it's stable!

I think it's definitely going places, but I wish that the other artists, not just the main players got recognition. We need to get behind these guys and push them hard! I'd love to see more massive selling hardcore albums that don't have Hixxy's name on it! More Hardcore Heavens, Hardcore Tunez and Hardcore Nations please!

I figure that due to Bonkers and Clubland there are now a fair few new people who have taken to a harder, faster sound and my theory is, if there were more hardcore albums on the shelves some of these people might think: "Cool! hardcore! I should like this" and purchase another album on the off-chance and then before they know it they've been introduced to other parts of the hardcore spectrum and they're hooked. [/theory]

It's not just the "little guys" that need pushing, it's the other flavours of hardcore as well.

@ Glen, to cut a long story short - popularity wained, the money was drying up, big events were becoming fewer and further apart, some artists decided to jump ship and hardcore basically went stale for a while. Thankfully some of the dj's/producers stuck to their guns and kept with it and look at it now!

i realy hate to put a downer on it for you guys but i have a couple of points.

first of all, i doubt very highly that hardcore is going to reach such enormous proportions of popularity. it is far to an alternative type of music for the world to agree with. It wouldn't happen.

Second of all, and more importantly, yes hardcore has been gettin bigger these last couple of years, but can we really call it hardcore? the last time i heard something truly original to what incoporates a thought out hardcore tune is being lost in the efforts to just turn them out quickly for cash.

If hardcore does even continue to get bigger, it will change for the needs and suits of the public eye. simple as that.

Honestly officer, it's for medicinal purposes! Just ask my doctor, he's right over there eating the curtains!
