In school we have (in Geography) about tourists and their effect on countries. We were to select a country and search info about tourism in that country. I chose Holland.
So now I ask you (those who read this) what would make you want to go to Holland?
And for those who live in Holland, what benefits do your country get from this? and what are the downsides of tourism in your country?
Those who have been in Holland as tourists, what kind of risks were you taking? (what kind of danger were you in, as an example getting robbed or jet lag or sickness).
What kind of effect does tourists have on Holland in general?

I've been to Amsterdam twice now, both times were to smoke skunk (back when I used to). Hopefully I will be going again this New Years Eve to go to a big gabba party. My parents went just to see the city and the tourist spots, museums etc. Only risk I took was that I wasn't old enough to drink or smoke but that didn't seem to be a problem. No one tried to mug us or anything... a really skanky girl was begging pretty hard for some money and we gave in eventually as she had some rather skanky looking thing growing on the side of her mouth.

Few of my mates went a year or so ago and they said in the busy places they often saw people walking about saying 'charlie' under their breath to see if there were any takers...

I think people are mainly talking about Amsterdam, I got offered pretty much every type of class A every night I went out.

the haag is pretty intesting to tour. they have several castles that are worth a look as well.
I enjoyed touring the grolsch brewery when I was there, more so all the free samples at the end =P
you can watch people make wooden shoes, got a pair that still fits me. you can also see the world's largest wooden shoe (in the book of guiness too)
the red light district is always worth a look, the sex museum is interesting as well. they give specials for americans =P I wish I could still find the paper they gave me, it had a list along with prices for sex acts
for those interested in history or jews there's always ann frank's hideout before she got sent to her death.
they throw really good parties, eat chocolate on bread for breakfast, have gorgeous country sides (windmills, cows, & tulips), and have very good public transportation.
several record shops worth taking a look at there (assuming you like dutch hardcore) and very friendly people who for the most part all of them spoke english (a lot better than some people who speak it as their native language here I might add =P)
only major thefts I knew about there was bikes being stolen
