I completly agree with what he was saying, does anyone else?

this is mainly for the promoters out there, why do certain djs who have been in the scene a long time get overlooked,
for example take the raver baby dj's hixxy breeze and styles nearly every flyer you see these guys are booked for the event, but take guys like dj unknown from quosh and dj ham from next gen these guys arnt booked nowhere near enough in my opinion. now im not saying booking the rbc dj's for the same events is a bad thing cos the majority of us love there sound its just when i ask promoters this there answer is always "we dont book unknown as much cos sy is booked" and "we dont book ham as much cos brisk is playing"
id be intersted to hear from people and promoters there views on this especially hixxy and seduction who both dj and promote, as i said i know they get booked but nowhere near as much as they should!

The bigger raves tend to book the most recognised artists as it pulls them in the most ravers. I do completely agree I would love to hear more of a variety at the bigger raves but I can't see it happening TBH.

You know, i completly agree.
I think in my opinion that its slightly unfair! Sure, they bring the crowds in but, hey, eventally will be hearing the same sets, the same tunes, the same people!
It might be ok now, but lets think to say 2 years down the line. People will get bored and hardcore will die again! Like it did some years ago!
Theres plenty of djs out there who have just as much talent as them and we need to make way for new blood to make the scene interesting!
Uproar are sometimes good with that.
I would love to be a high profile hardcore dj, but the sounds and tunes i play are very holland influenced and its difficult to get a name for yourself if your, well... Not known and be different! Plus am a female and we all know its very male dominated!
Its sad to think that so many talent out there will not get as far as huge clubs because no one knows them.
I love going to hardcore events, dont get me wrong, but im already getting bored. Sounds bad but at the end of the day. The venues are different but the dj's and sound isnt!

The think with Ham & Unknown is that for the same price or probably a bit more you could get Sy and Brisk, who would probably play very similar sets (pushing their label sound) And im sure Sy and Brisk probably pull more people in.
I would love to see more variation at events or even better set times for the lesser known dj's but this will not happen at the bigger events.
The bigger events are all about attracting casual ravers not people who in general post on forums such as these.
The people in the know would love to see variety. People who attend big events in general want to see their favourite DJ's
You will have to wait for the casual ravers to get bored and move on before you see any change. imo

It is unfair but there a a few parties trying to sort it out, check out some of the events like Total Bedlam there doing a good job of pushing the up and comings.

Guys like DJ Unknown aren't booked for many because he hardly does any sets or any individual songs.
In fact, does anyone know ANY songs that DJ Unknown has produced just by himself???

Yeah he used to do loads of tracks by himself but tends to work with Sy all the time now.
Someone can correct me if im wrong but im sure he got his name because he used to do loads of bootlegs which were labelled dj Unknown and he decided to keep it as his artist name.
Personally, I think Unknown is caught up in Sy's shadow. Unknown doesn't get the respect he deserves.

'I think within the actual scene, there is a wide range of sounds and styles within hardcore. However, I don’t feel enough diversity is actually showcased at big events. The nearest you come to diversity at a large event is maybe one or two freeform sets. The people who are booked to do something a little different naturally feel compelled to play quite a safe, happy set, lest they completely kill the dancefloor. Because they will kill the dancefloor, because most ravers who only go to big events very rarely hear anything other than happy.
If we compare this to the hardcore scene in Holland things are very different. Even the “cheesy” DJs play the odd terror tune, or something a bit different. You get speedcore sets chucked in, and yes half the people stop dancing, but the thing is people very rarely get to like something like speedcore straight away. I didn’t even like nu-style the first time I heard it, but now I love it. A lot of people might stop dancing when something different to what they like comes on, but these events still often pull over 20,000 people.
What I think the big events need to realise is that while booking an obvious line up of all anthem-playing DJs might be the safest thing to do in the short term, it won’t be long before people get bored again and leave as quickly as they came. People aren’t going to forfeit an event just because a couple more sets are handed to people who play different stuff, and people aren’t going to hate a DJ because he played a couple of tunes that are different from what he normally plays. But ultimately some people will like what they hear, and stay in hardcore for longer.'
i have to agree, all the huge labels (evo, quosh, raver baby etc) are producing hardcore for a living and due to this are only producing stuff the sells and playing it safe, this stops innovation and diversity and stops the music moving forward making the scene stagnant as everything sounds the same this also occurs at the events as people need the money for a living they play the same old repetitive cheesy music as everyone else booked, after a while it will get stale and the scene will slump again
thought i'd just quote myself instead of typing it again

The bottom line is that promoters throw events for one reason and one reason only...$MONEY$. Event orginisation is a business, and it requires a substantial initial investment to put on a full scale party. Booking the popular DJ's and acts of the moment is the smart bet for helping to ensure a profit.

I do think of them as producers but am just saying that there is so much talent out there and not enough clubs to let them in!!
