screenshot wouldnt really prove anything. As it would depend on settings, game and various other settings. Run 3d mark then take screenshots of the results
And who really cares.
It seems that your annoyed because he said your card isnt all that.
its like being at school.

is that looking any better?
that hard drive is a bit of a rip, i got the same but the 160gb version for £45 fitted (maxtor diamondback, 7200rpm, SATA, 2mb cache)
i'd advise getting some better ram aswell, i have seen 1GB ram for £40 somewhere and there is very little difference performance wise between the cheap stuff and the more expensive stuff
ohh and to settle you two boys squabbling, graphics card isn't the only thing that determines your FPS (frames per second basehead), some games run alot more on your processor than your graphics card like UT2004 whereas others run alot heavier on your graphics card.
a mate of mine runs F.E.AR on high settings perfectly well with a 256mb card, thin it is the 6800 version though so i ain't sure
Doom 3 is not that hard to run and yes WoW isn't tough at all to run

For AMD systems you want low latency RAM if you want to get more improvements. High bandwidth RAM will offer little improvement in AMD systems whereas in Intel systems bandwidth is more important. You might want to get 1gb of PC3200 DDR Ram (dual-channel of course~!) and make sure its low latency (i.e. CAS2 or CAS1.5). Getting PC4400 or something of the sort is just going to cost a lot and add minimal improvement. And don't get no name RAM cause itll shit out and you'll have no idea whats wrong with your system. Kingston, GeIL, Corsair, OCZ all make good RAM modules in my experience.
And just a word of advice to Jaxon and any other PC buildrs/OC'ers, you do NOT want to get a "500W PSU" from ebay cause theyre guaranteed to F*ck you over after a year or so. Good, stable power will last a long time and let your components last longer than they would with some of the cheaper stuff. In my experience, thermaltake and antec make very nice power supplies and PC power and cooling make THE best PS'es out there if you're willing to spend a bit more.
In regards to the gfx cards, ive run a Geforce4, 5800, and im running a 6800 GT on my comp at home (laptop im using is running a X300, my only ATi). WoW doesnt use much gfx power as it wouldnt make sense to force several million people to upgrade their GPU's. And like SixFeet said, your performance in-game is based on a variety of factors other than GPU like CPU, memory, HD rpm, net connect, etc. You could be running a P4EE with 7800's in SLI but have horrible performance on WoW if you're using 28.8 k connection. But yes, the 5500 was king maybe 4 years ago. It's middle of the road nowadays, maybe less so actually =/.
anyways, good luck on your system Jaxon, system building is one of my favorite things to do
PS. a good quiet CPU cooler is always a nice bonus if you have a little leftover cash. Best one on the market right now IMO is the CNPS9500 by zalman
check it out :

cheers!

my old mans pc has got a geforce 2 but he uses it for bussiness and my work pc has got standard, so i don't think my 5500 needs an upgrade just yet although i've had it for a yr or 2 now.

does anyone on here use water cooling? I'm interested in giving it a shot but I'm still a little intimidated by it...
was at a lan a few weeks back and a guy had made his computer in a 10 gal. aquarium...used a non-electric transferring liquid to simulate water

Actually Samsung is one of the cheap brands, at least here. But yea, always buy the cheapest one. If i remember right 512mb DDR 400MHZ is the cheapest at the moment. At least few months back buying 1GB cards, you got less for your money.
