It lacks tradiction old skool beats (kicks breaks ect) which makes it sound like happy hosue on fast forwards. Been listening to Bonkers 2 today and the beats in those tracks are real hardcore beats, not club beats

to me, old skool happy hardcore was "happy" coz it was bouncy and a fast pace, a lot faster than anything else played. I think the term "happy" in happy hardcore when describing new skool "happy" hardcore is more the fact of the song literally being happy.... Best way i can describe this is
Eclipse - Be Happy (Brisk & VAGABOND remix) ... Correct me if im wrong but is this song not happy? and is it not hardcore? happy hardcore? just not the same happy as the old skool happy. My opinion anyways

I do agree that technically it isn't really happy hardcore anymore and hasn't been since the big renewal but it really doesn't bother me too much, if people are liking it thats all that matters.
