Just seein' if any one else out there is a water rat. And hey, feel free to give a location of where you surf.

As for me I'm in Santa Barbara, but I surf any where from Pizmo Beach down to the Ventura River Mouth, I have about 6 secret spots that me and my Dad have.

Wanna know where they are... Just Kidding!

Have never tried it but i'd love to, my mates just got back after working all summer in north carolina, or mibbe south carolina i cant remember which one.

anyway he's come back totally addicted and the way he talks about when you ride a wave sounds something i'd really enjoy.

Got any stories from your surfing mate? Have to say surfers tend to be really sound aswell, must be a good way to spend your spare time.

welcome to site mate

Suprized to see so few watermen out there. Having been raized half my life on the ocean, I've been in the water all my life, (surfing since I was 8).

Just a little tip to those of you who say they'd like to try. Learn to swim, and become a somewhat strong swimmer. Learn the ocean, there are important things to know like how to deal with undertow, and how to duckdive. And most importantly, this can save your life, If you think it might be above your head (in skill level, not depth) be vary cautious, and if you know your above your head, get out immediately even if it means leaving your board. And hey, if anyone ends up in the good ol' Santa Barbara and wants a tutor PM me and I'll see what can be arranged.

I body board, does that count?

I've been to florida, sitges (Spain) and Newkey body boarding. And its great! The biggest wave I ever rode was about 1ft taller than me! Great fun.

Hey it's a legit form, and a whole lot cheaper than the kind I do, I have about $1200 dollars wrapped up in surf boards.
I still find it strange to here about surfing in Florida. But thats where Kelley Slater comes from so I guess It's not that out of the norm.

Well, if in biking you mean motercycle riding there are some similarities in the life styles. Its hard to describe though. If I even try, It will be rambling for 4 pages and I still couldn't describe quite right what I mean. Laird Hamilton said it best, "It's like trying to describe the color orange. You have to see it to understand". I may only ride Dirt Bikes, but I feel it's the same way for both.

See what I mean by rambling, and I was trying not to.

well you could describe it in one word to another surfer :)

but i meant mountain biking, when you find a powder trail and death grip the brakes only to slow down to 20 km/h amazing!

i've attempted, poorly i might add but i seem to be good at wakeboarding(as good as someone can be when they are so drunk they can barely stand) so i might have to get into that a lil more

Well priest, I think I understand where your going with this.

And there is a word that surfers can use, and no, it's not dude (thats california as a whole ). The word is 'Bitchen' .

lol bitchen. personally dont use er in bikin much. mostly "TREE"

but eyah its all about the ride, not how sick it is or how good you are. its the smile on your face at the end of it all. and the battle wounds are more than that, theyre the stories in point form :)

LOL, tree. I have experience with that one. I do enduro style motorcycle riding, and I've encoutered those. What kills me though are rocks. I'm magnatized to them. You think that I would be able to miss a rock thats the size of a soccer ball, bu nooooooo, I have to hit it at 30mph.

Priest, do you BMX at all??
