I see what you mean but in london for example which is multicultural you'll definitely see more whites than the % of the population at hardcore raves.

Not that raves are rascist everyone that turns up gets on quality and theres no rascism to people, just culturally not as many black and asian people are into that type of music in the uk anyway.

Go to a hip hop, garage/grime, ragga or drum n bass rave and it's the other way around with a bigger % of black folk than in the general population.

Just the way it is, doesnt mean people are rascist is just a cultural thing. Like scouse house in the north west and makina in the north east

here in cali its Black not african american. Ive run into countless people who say that hearing African American sounds like were babying them. or sometimes they say that just sounds stupid. I say black all the time now.
Works for me.

and Baldo's right. If you go to a snoop dogg concert, guess what the majority of people will be....

Go to a Garth Brooks country show, and guess what you'll see there.

Go to my cousins birthday party in two weeks. Latino's baby! :D

Or, as a more likely situation, bring on the crazy ultra liberals who will call us all racist bastards for even discussing the topic... not sure what its like where you live but in England most people have to bend over backwards to keep ethnic minorities happy...

Sorry, didn't mean to be harsh. I'm probably a bit too wary because I live in Holland where once the topic of ethnic minorities in relation to "racial differences" is raised a whole load of racists take their chance to have a go. Dutchies appear to be tolerant, but I've seen and heard too much to believe that anymore. Just didn't want it to escalate by people starting to put a label on certain "races" of people, that's all.

And sorry for snapping back at you with my post, I didn't mean to sound a **** :)

Sure

Erm...I've been in the Uk scene for like, well to long and its not true its all white,
how about Easygroove,Maxim,Carl Cox,Lively, Ratpack etc. Sure when rave started splitting into different genres people did tend to move into sub-sections accordingly, even that is generalization, however it did seem for a while jungle went slightly darker ethically and Happy hardcore more light if you get my meaning ( I ain't getting into that whole coloured think lol ), but I have seen everything and everyone at parties. I agree that it was exactly that I got into Hardcore for. Plus nowone seemed to want to beat me up,for the way I danced and expressed myself, double bonus!!
Gabba in Dutch means 'Nice guy' shame racists try to rob scenes and flags.
Ruin football and generally fail to see that their ideology is inheritly flawed but there
you go.
At least it exposes their weakness.
If I was being espcially nasty I would say in the UK the scene was, is and will be mainly dominanted by lonely white teenage boys who really want a girlfriend or have just split up with one who is completely stunning and snoggin their best mate in a corner. Perhaps that was just me.
I would suggest that more to the point, why is it so many beautiful girls are in the scene and all seem to be going out with the local dealer? Black or white. Well at least they are pretty to look at. Unlike the indie scene where you think you will get an easy lay only to discover they all have issues and that only the big one likes YOU!!!

I jest, but be fanatical againest only one thing...fanatics

Besides, I don't know about anyone else but after a party at six in the morning I am either grey about to die or PINK!!!

More accurately, it is spelt as "gabber". English speaking people turned it into "gabba" because that pronunciation would be more suitable to the English language. So originally it was "gabber", but the Dutch have taken over the English spelling as well, so now both terms are being used. They mean the same thing though.

The noun "gabber" actually means "friend" rather than "nice guy", but it's lost that meaning very long ago. It's a very old fashioned word to refer to friends, and I don't think anyone uses it anymore in that sense.

I have a Dutch dictionary from 1865 that contains the noun "gabber", according to which it means "friend". It also contains the verb "gabberen", i.e. "to gabber", but there is no description with it.

Ah, ...

Racism.... Did I read dutchies somewhere? Being tolerant? Hardcore is for whites?

Well Gabber for me will always be GabbeR and not GabbA, it's not like any tekno
Gabber is jewish, it means friends. Back in the old days, we had maori's, negro's, and all kinds of sifferent races on the rave-floor. Sadly, when some rightminded groups dicided they liked Hardcore as well, started dressing like brittish skinheads, the scene really went bad

Only the "oldskool" members remember those days. It was the working class "fighting" against rich society.

But now, the only people who are "admitted" or even "tolerated" are maori...
It's sad, but true...
Gabber lost it's meaning with the fourth generation....

fourth generation?
look, in my eyes you only had 2 generations (3 tops). oldskool gabbers, newskool gabbers (mostly the post-2000 ppl) and those in between.
the whole newskool image is purely build on skinhead society and every misconception about skins (including the whole racism issue) was transfered onto the gabberscene as well by the media and the stupid ppl.

my vision on it in a nutshell

ps: been gabber for 8 years, recently quit it cuz was sick and tired of being regarded a nazi by most ppl. still wear my maxies and hardcore merch though but now I included some non-gabber elements to my look.
still love the music though
